Audio Tech's lend some help on tweeters?
I know this should be in Audio/Electronics, but we all know that NO ONE ever goes to that forum so I decided to post this hear to maybe get a few replies before it gets moved.
I am currently running MA Audio 6.5 components and Boston Acoustic 2-way 6.5 Rally speakers off of a JL 300/4 amplifier. I want to add a couple of tweeters.
The amp has all of the gains at the minimum and it is kind of loud now, but I am looking to get some more high end. I was thinking of mounting 2 tweeters in the center console (slide out ash tray face) and then two more on the rear shoulder belt covers (sunk in).
Questions are - What are some decently priced tweeters that I could just wire into the existing speakers? And what would be the best wiring procedure to run the added 4 tweeters?

I just wanted to throw that in real quick. As far as wiring, i have the mb quart components, and they sound great, but that is a kit. I would recommend that the most. Mixing and matching hasnt had the best results. Just my .02, sorry if i just took up time.

if your looking for a suggestion, I have always been preferential to the infinity kappa series. They match perfectly and enought highs and mids without making your ears bleed without all of that "breaking glass". just my .00002 cents

1st of all tweeters won't affect SQ.. it depends on what tweeters you have.
2nd of all 6 1/2 produce better SQ than 6x9's.. if you are looking for SPL sure 6x9's maybe be better.. better surface area and will be louder.. for SQ.. 6 1/2 will will be best because sound is round and the waves are not distored.
3rd of all you are running 4 speakers off 1 amp? and you are going to tell me you know anything about sound quality? worse off you are running a 4 channel amp at that?
hey.. i know people who are MSCE certified and can't setup a simple network.. your certification doesn't mean ****.. it just means you know how to study and take a test..

the JL amps boast true power.. ie 500/1 is a solid mono 500 watts. 300/4 is a solid 75 watts x 4. Yes I know it isn't going to win tons of SPL shows or anything like that, but I just want it to be loud enough for me.. not for judging purposes.

why the *uck would i need more than one amp to power my highs when i dont even compete, let alone really care about metering my system and having it tuned so precisely? I have my system setup for my needs, not to compete with.
Id love to see you go pass the MECP 1st class exam, even after studying.
Jay: well talk more about this elsewhere.

to break it down for you...
KX120 puts out 120 watts RMS to my Diamond Audio M561 (Fronts)
KX120 puts out 140 watts RMS to my Diamond Audio 6mx3 (Rear)
KX600 puts out 800 watts RMS to my IDMax 12
again i don't compete.. but if you shop at the right places (sweetsound2001 aka Anton) you don't pay as much and you have a sweet sounding system..
but like i said.. if you want to have a sound off at a major meet.. let me know
