Enrichment/Fast Idle Not Working on '87

The enrichment/fast idle on my 87 isn't working on cold start. It requires constant throttle to keep it running and has a miss until it warms up. Any ideas? Is there a way to get ECM codes find the problem? The check engine light is not on.

Thanks

Have you tried replacing the coolant temp sensor for the ECU not the one for the gauge? It should be a two wire sensor screwed into the coolant flow somewhere, probably intake manifold. Unless the sensor operating out of it's range, it probably will not set a code. Hopefully your coolant is in good condition, no rust, etc.

It is the air regulator. Then try running a mode III test to see if anything else is bad. I've had the problem before too and it was the air regulator.

Can you describe what the air reg looks like and where it is, and how to run a Mode III test? I don't have a service manual for this car, since it is my Dad's.

The senor light on the dash is on, but the cold start problem started well before this light came on, so I don't think it is releated.

Thanks
