PCV valve
PCV valve
I hate to say it but I don't know enough about cars. Can someone help me determine where the PCV valve is on a 2000 Maxima, what it looks like and how to replace it.
Or maybe you can help me determine where to look for that info.
Thanks!

search! or better yet, have you checked the faq section in the 5th gen forum? I think they are located just below the throttle body on the valve cover of the rear cylinder bank. I'm not sure if there's one or two, I haven't changed mine yet, I probably should, considering it's only not even two years old yet, almost. But it's got 42000 highway miles. You have to pull it out to change it.
It stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve. Rarely do these ever fail on Nissan's (even old one's). A simple way to test it is to take it out and shake it. It should sound "loose" and should make a clicking sound back and forth when shaken vigorously. Should it be "bad" it will make very little sound at all.
I have no idea why you would need to replace this part on a 2000 Nissan
But before you buy a new one, remove the valve, take STP Carb and Choke Cleaner and spray it into the crankcase side of the valve, then shake it, repeat if necessary.
