Hi all,
This is Bernie from Supraforums if any of y'all frequent that board. This is my first post here so I would like to see at least one "STFU n00b!!!" from someone!
I had owned a '93 Supra TT 6-speed but was forced to sell due to my financial situation. So I knew my next car was going to be much less costly, but still had to be practical and fun at the same time. After testing out a load of different cars, I finally settled on this:
A '96 SE 5-speed. 121k miles, for $6k. Meachanically it is excellent, but the exterior has its fair share of scratches and scrapes, and the interior carpet and cloth needs a thorough cleaning. But otherwise it should serve me well as a daily driver.
And hey-- I can actually buy a nice system for the car and still have twice the trunk space I had in the MkIV!
Thanks for the space, and I hope to learn a lot here by using the SEARCH button, but sometimes you just need someone to talk to!

STFU nOOb!!!
Just kidding... hope you enjoy your new Maxima, and I know you'll enjoy the forum! You definitely won't feel the speed of your MKIV, but the Maxima is definitely a more refined car and you will still be able to burn lots of people!

As strange as it may sound, going from a 12-secong car to a stock Maxima as a daily driver replacement isn't so bad; I was hardly able to use the acceleration that much anyway. But what I REALLY miss about the Supra is the handling and grip. I was getting on the freeway with the Max for the first time two days ago and the tires were really howling!
I would very much like to stiffen things up a bit but not totally destroy the comfy ride... rims are in my future...but what suspension setup I go with is still up in the air...
h&r's, agx's, RSB, and FSTB and you will handle like you never thought a maxima could

Welcome! Looks like we have the same model, trim and color. Those rims are pretty bad, huh? As for the suspension, the one I have listed in my sig is real nice. Very responsive and not too harsh at all. I hated the boaty feeling of the stock suspension.

Welcome to the board. My friend was in a similar situation as you. He had a '93 3000GT VR4, but couldn't keep it due to change in his financial situation. He now has a '94-'97 Integra GSR, forgot the exact year, they all look the same to me.

Looks like we *may* have a contributor instead of a leech joining....which is good as we are in the minority here.

A great thread to start with:

I'm learning already! Thanks for the info about the suspension. Hopefully I will be able to get in on some local meets and get a few rides from fellow owners with mods.
Thanks for the welcome everyone!
Oh, and bill99gxe, are you a certain Mr. Brasky? you're a bit of a 'legend' on other boards out there... *ahem*
