Too much Redline Water Wetter?
Too much Redline Water Wetter?
Hi all,
I bought a bottle of Redline Water Wetter a few months ago and finally got a chance to flush my radiator today. I pour the whole bottle in before I read the instruction on the bottle which says I only need to put in ~8 ozs for my '97 SE
My question is, will it do any harms? Should I flush it out and get another bottle?
Thanks!

So you think the extra 4ozs of Water Wetter will be bad for my radiator? If not, then what kind of harm can it be done?

You're correct, you should only put the recommended amount. When I used to live in the cold some people would make the mistake of running 100% antifreeze, and no matter how much anyone told them otherwise they insisted it offered the greatest cold weather protection. Obvioulsy they flunked chemistry--though 50/50 is usually good enough to what, -34, you can go up to 70% antifreeze and 30% water for maximum cold weather protection. Beyond 70% reduces the benefits of antifreeze.

I run a 50/50 mixture of coolant and redline water wetter in my motorcycle. I store it out in a shed during the winter and it has not frozen yet. Unless you live in an area that requires regular use of an electric engine heater using to much water wetter will not be an issue for you.

Any problems running 80% water?P.S. An extra 4oz of H20wetr isn't gonna hurt our 9qt system

Well that is a May-October Mix. I will probably bump it up to 40% antifreeze for the winter.

Edit: The Water Wetter can be run with 100% water and it won't hurt the system, but it still will freeze if your temps. drop below freezing.
Read the back of the antifreeze bottle!
Redline waterwetter will not damage anything. So, don't worry about it.
It will get slushy in the cold RI weather. If you garage your car, it isn't a problem. Parking it in a cold lot at work for 8 hours is. I froze a radiator on the highway because of windchill.
Just run 50:50 water/antifreeze. Takes all the thinking out of it. But first, pour in the waterwetter/purpleice/towcool/whatever and then top it off with the 50:50. I have used the waterwetter(whole bottle) for years and never had any problems. Plus, I usually run a little more engine timing and do not have pinging issues with 87 octane. And, 50:50 is good enough for 90% of the weather anywhere in the country.
And make sure you are using distilled water. The use of more water% reduces the amount of corrosion protection. Tap water will add to this corrosion issue. For those of you who do not use distilled water, stick with the 50:50.
