Indiglo Gauge question

Just something i've been wondering. In aftermarket indiglo gauges is the color produced by the actual gauge plates, or from the transformer?

I ask this because I had indiglo's in my car before that were 2 color (blue/green switch and the dimmer ****). But the gauges ****ed up so I got new ones and they're the 6 color ones (digital pad with 4 buttons to switch from blue's/green's and dark and bright buttons)

Here's my problem: On my older 2/color ones the gauges used to light up a really really dark blue. The new 6color ones don't get close to that, the darkest blue setting is still sort of blue/greenish. To my understanding all the color is created in the gauges themselves... so what would happen if I hooked the old transformer (2 color) up to the new gauges(6 color)?

Cliffnotes: What creates the indiglo gauges color, gauge or transformer?

I guess it will not have the color you want. your indiglo has two layers, green and blue. the transformer just change the color(intensity) of the two layers to produce those 6 different colors(combination). and I also guess one of those 6 combinations set the blue the brightest and green the softest. if you don't see the dark blue you want, you can't see the dark blue you want ever. anyway, don't listen to me, I might be wrong.
