Just wondering how many people are as crazy as me,for the record I have owned my max for 15 months and have put over $10,000 into just mods.I kind of feel stupid because I could be driving a brand new Max SE right now rather then my supped up Max,whould have I done it again? No I would be driving the new car Ahh well.Don't bother posting unless you have put in atleast 5K of mods in your car so this thread dosent get huge {unless you really want to}.Peace

doh!

Well in my case I had custom CAI, 60mm TB, UR UDP, hi flow cat and catback for $700. Protorque TC for $395, SGP ported heads for $800, ISKY cams for $160 ($300 for new cam seals and lifters), $119 ST springs, $149 RSB, $75 FSTB (only one in the US so far hehe )$20 urethane engine/tranny mounts, $45 tranny cooler and last but not least a free nissan hamburger badge for my grill. Now this doesn't equal $5k but my car was had a KBB trade in of $700 and retail of $2400 . I guess it was the 220k miles that caused such a low value. Now would I do it again, yes I would except I would get a 5spd. I still have to replace the engine (the swap is comming soon), upgrade the brakes, put in new front seats (I don't have to but want to), redecorate the interior, do the auto to 5spd conversion. Then add some new paint and possibly a better suspension if I could. I could see I would end up spending around $5k in mods to my car. But this car was bone stock for 190k miles its time for a change and besides it will be unique .

Wow...$10K. I don't think I put that much into mine yet. I usually do my own work, so I save some money that way.

Let's see here:

HKS intake $170
Stillen Y-pipe $300
B-pipe $180
RT cat $180
RSB $160
ST springs $140
KYB GR-2 rear struts $140
Koni fronts $260
Front and rear strut towers $130
Kosei K1 16" with Yokohama Avid V4s $1140
96 Prelude VTEC leather seats and install $370
alum shift know and pedals $100
Paint for drivng lights and rear tail lights $40
Alum for heat shield and floor mats $10
Exhaust tip $60

Total: $3380
Total including car: $18400

I figure I've got about another $1100 in mods left to do that I can think of. $450 for a UPRD ecu, $220 for a Stillen lip and paint, $200 for a leather rear seat, $200 for a used black GXE/GLE trunk with no spoiler (I hate rear spoilers, I don't want it).

i was going to have $10,000 in mods done

but in my case it would be really retarded since i have a 1990 maxima. after all the mods it would have anew paint job and engine, along with other new stuff. but it's still not worth it for me. i'll put that money towards my 300zx.

never look back on how much you spend on your max (i didn't)
it will be depressing. Just save up and buy what you can afford and look forward to what other goodies you can get.

Hey emax95...

It was actually a pretty tiresome task. I had to cut out the spare tire well in order for the second exhaust to fit. This involved cutting it out, welding new cross-beams for safety and strength, and, finally fiberglassing the whole trunk so it was completely flat. Then came the fabrication of the custom Y-pipe and mide-pipe and the ardeous task of making both of the exhausts line up perfectly straight (horizontally and vertically). Ultimately, it was a long process but I'm very happy with the results.

cheers,

five

about $65

I got the K&N panel and the cleaning kit, that's all. I think mods are mostly for show, and not very cost effective. If you want performance, you get more per $ (bang for the buck) from the factory. If anything, a lot of mods actually hurt both fuel economy and performance IMHO. Basically the economies of scale principle applies when you compare factory to an aftermarket company.

hmm..

About 700$ on mods. I would have spent at least double that by now... but my REPAIR list is much bigger then my mod list

Repairs:

Tranny, battery, brakes, tune up stuff, o2 sensor.. and more.... at least 2,000$ so far. and I had the car for like 8 months.
