AE 5 spd Shift ****

I put the 2001 AE shift **** on my '97 SE. Looks great, but it's kinda slippery compared to the original. Is it real leather? The top being aluminum insert has no grip. Anyone else have an opinion?

Make sure you put layers and layers of clearcoat on it or else the numbers will rub off.

Yeah that's one reason I replaced my original, the numbers were worn. But that one had like stamped numbers.

What clearcoat finish could I use?

I agree..>

the AE **** is very slippery and will get worse with more use. It looks great but that's all. Removed my AE **** back in January and installed a '02 ****. Better grip and the numbers are stamped.

What's the '02 **** look like? Does it have the aluminum insert on top? Is it leather?
