I'm 99% sure that V1 doens't do any group buys. You can only buy it from them. I don't think they have resellers.

Keep us posted...I want one, they're just so damn expensive! I do doubt they'll do a GD though, since they only sell them directly anyways...

They do not do GD's i have contacted them before about this. I have seen this radar in action, and I must say it is pretty sweet, I don't personally think its worth 400 dollars, but defintly worth getting one if you have the money. I believe the passport 1800? or the 8000 can't remember the number actually works about as well and for a good amount less in price. Its smaller also, the v1 is huge, but I guess that is the price you pay for those little arrows that tell you were the bogie is

he's right!

MMMmax is right. I've also emailed V1 about a group deal but it doesn't seem that they budge. The radar detector is HUGE, though i've heard good things about it. Maybe if we spoke to someone there that we could buy about 300 of them (get people from other forums) they would give us a deal..but then again, thats wishful thinking.

My .02....

I've used, but never owned a Bell, Passport, and several other detectors at one time or another and they mostly did their job adequately. However, I used a friends Valentine ONCE for a road trip in his Porche and I was sold. I can't stress enough how good this thing is. It's the BEST $400 you'll ever spend for your car! It has saved me waaaaaaay more than that $400 on preventing tickets, higher insurance, and some jail time.

Again, I've NEVER been more sold on a product. I'm a skeptical person by nature and the Valentine has blown me away time and time again. Once you learn how to MAXIMIZE the warning system, you'll actually speed up to a "speed trap", brake in time, and then accelerate away withOUT a care. It's funny how it becomes second nature.

The ONLY downside(besides the price) is that once surrounding traffic sees you slow down before a cop, they tend to FOLLOW you and try and use you as a shield.

I second that!!
Worse yet is when they use you as a shield all the way back down
I-10 from Phoenix. I feel like I'm being chased/tailed by the FBI
or something.

BUY YOUR OWN! It's worth it.

yep everyone were right no GD what so ever.
the sales rep say 1 or 100 V1 the price still the same not a penny less.

I am still debating wether to spend $445 on the radar or something else. Since I consider myself a reasonable driver but all of those "pigs" start pulling me out at 1 MPH over the limit.

just my thought

I have a simple solution!!!

uhh..

stop speeding....

yeah... right...

Mike

p.s. cops are NOT pigs. Please, we have officers who drive Maximas on our board. Why would you want them to remember us abusing them, so that they can start pulling over their fellow car enthusiasts more frequently? Shaaaaddup.

I agree! Some are AHOLES, but MOST are not, so I wait for them to make a move before I open my mouth.

So far, I'm 50/50 on good and bad cops and only one was for speeding. BTW, that was my ONLY speeding ticket EVER!(reason I bought the V1) I've never been warned either.

I'm guessing we're about to get a lock or delete here but the above
point is interesting. If municipalities and the Feds would set a
reasonable speed limit (speed at which 85% of drivers drive at or
below) instead of arbitrary limits based on revenue generation we
wouldn't have such a speeding problem. Further, if they would just
lengthen the time for a yellow light at intersections, we could
drastically reduce the number of red-light-runner fatalities. But,
this isn't popular because it actually addresses and corrects the
problem without putting more money into city coffers; even though
both of the above solutions will save lives and insurance costs.

Until the above changes are made, use a V1!

My brother has the V1 in his Acura TL and swears by it. The entry price is steep but when you think of the cost of the alternative (speeding tkt, insurance prems, etc) it is relatively cheap. I will get it around Xmas. Right now I want to spend that $400 on better breathing for my Max.

i think u mean passport 8500,i got this, and it's working great for me,for less than $300 i think it's worth it,it works just like the v1 minus the arrow,it a little weaker in x,k band, but better in ka and equal in laser, that is what i read in the mag.

I've decided

People
one thing and for all.
I have purchased the V1 including the concealed display for a big mulla.
Personally is over my budget but considering that V1 is upgradeable and the best rating so far base on C&D mag, I have no option. I want the best protection my money can buy

Time will justify my investment. max is fast enough for day to day driving.. paying speeding ticket is far more PIA!.

Peace

do you have pics of your setup? i've been considering getting one, but i'm concerned about whether I can hide it in the car for when I do get pulled over and whether it will work as well if it is hidden.

Yes, I believe so. You can pick them up on ebay a little cheaper if you guys want one for less that $400+$39 for the display. Make sure you search for "valentine 1" AND "valentine one".

I've been seriously considering getting one, just for safetys sake, but I live in VA, the only frickin place they are illegal. So I'd also like to see someones setup.

And yes, the V1 is the best detector by far. the arrows are priceless. Ask any of my friends that have one

yes ebay could be the cheapest place to purchase V1, but please consider this:

1. Warranty issue (1 yr for every new product directly from V1)
2. Price wise is not much cheaper (ebay between $350-$400)
3. Latest software?
4. Upgrading to the latest is not that cheap, always ask and check
the serial number of the V1 before you purchase and check with the
V1 website under "upgrade" tab.
5. A good working radar from ebay? Ebay has been known as the place
for selling junk to some of us.

Please consider those factors before you are making your investment.

just my $.02
mine is coming either today or tommorow.

exunaja is totally correct. I looked on EBay too, and the prices on the V1 1.8 isn't a whole lot cheaper than buying direct. Most of the ones being sold on there are older versions, like the 1.7, which are quite a bit cheaper. However, if you choose to upgrade those to the new version, it costs $189 to do that.

They do keep records of owners and such and what detector is owned and what has been done to it. I know that when I had mine upgraded, it was my mom's before and it was one of the originals, I had to have my mom call and change the info into my name. It protects you if it is stolen and such. They also check who the proper owner is if you buy accessories and such also.

Basically, if you buy it off of Ebay, make sure to have the owner call and change the info into your name so you can upgrade it and such if you wish.
