There are no shocks/struts available for 5th gen max that is good enough to handle the drop, if you use either stock or tokicos...good luck

that explains why nobody is willing to buy just the springs.

Koni inserts....but you'll have to shave the top mount a little or buy 4th gen top mounts to fit, supposedly.

I believe Konis are the ONLY ones that will handle that drop. KYB AGXs will for awhile, but even they are failing with Maxspeeds/Sprints 1.8-2" drop.

Koni inserts would be the only way to go IMO.

It's a little hard to explain, but I'll try.

Here are some pictures of a Koni install, so you will see why the FRONTs shocks need gutting:
http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...=239608&page=2

You cut the "top" off your stock shocks using a dremel and the rod/internals/fluid comes out. Then you put the Koni insert inside the stock shock body that you just hollowed out.

So, basically you're just using the stock lower half for the housing/lower mounting point/spring perch and the Koni insert is the top half which has the piston rod/spring hat and bolts to the bottom side of the strut tower.

The rears are struts, so no gutting is required.

OH WTF? I'm still in school. I need to start applying to grad programs and I don't have the tools, means, nor the knowledge to even fathom doing jobs like this!! How intense is this anyway? How much would a shop charge to do all this (on avg)?

I'm thinking when it's all over and done with, at least with labor charges included, all of this will cost the same as buying some JIC or TEIN coilovers. ALSO! how long are these suckers going to last really... they have a 1 year warranty. What about the Konis? And whatever else I have to pull out of my a$$ to get this stuff to all work out?

Mang, not worth it. I'm going to shell out the big bucks to buy the coilovers.

no you dont need to buy springs.....if you buy the CHEAP"coiloverS" then all that is...is replacing you springs....if you buy "REAL COILOVERS" they come as a springs and shock assembly...real ones being like teins, hks and stuff...

hey maxima97gle, are their any aftermarket shocks to support the springs.. with the 2k2 models.. i heard koni was good, but expensive, and the AGX will not last long with aggressive driving or something. but if you have any other suggestions with shocks plz PM me thanks. but if not, then you can take me off the list.. i will then go for the TEIN coilovers. im sorry.

Well the Koni's are a lil expensive put i dont see why the AGX's wouldn't be enough. The spring rates between the TEIN Springs and the Eibachs are similar if not less severe.

the tein springs i am very pleased with, but with that much of a drop i heard the AGX shocks would wear out faster than the konis. i am not sure how much the konis are but maybe in my pocket its expensive in any way. hehe. but i would prefer the best aftermarket suspension that can work together very well. the TEIN springs are great, but shocks are just something i am concerned.
