it's wednesday and i still haven't got mine yet, i live in cali too! and i was the first to recieve the struts in the first place! doh

 

omg, he's in washington, you should have received yours first. I'm gonna email him about that too, if possible can u call him? my long distance bill is serious

oh and i'm still awaiting his reply on the refund check matter.

On average how much were u guys paying to ship them back? just wanted to know....

i think i paid like $24 and change.. but it was sent 3 day priority.. the postage for the struts he sent back to me are $18.

those of u that paid, do u have a receipt or some type of proof of how much u sent? he couldnt keep track of all the different shocks sent back and how much shipping was. Did some of u keep a receipt? he might have to just send an average price back....

I got my struts today. Model number seems to match up with the maxima ones (734017). However, I have two concerns. What bolts and nuts are supposed to come with the shocks. I have two bolts for one shock in the front and only one nut for the other one in the front. The shocks were open and scratched, I will try to get some pictures later in the week when I get my cousins digital camera. Thanks mecc for setting it up but when we pay 330+ some of us even more I would expect something new and while these shocks are new in the sense they were never used they look badly abused. The plastic was ribbed on all four shocks and the two in the front were scratched reveiling the steel behind the red paint. So, I guess if I can just be sure the struts have all the right installation equipment included then I guess this is ok.

Edit: After closer examination the only scratched and abused struts seem to be the front ones. However, the plastic is ripped on all four shocks and the box looks like someone was kicking it around for days on end.

 

lol, sorry about that, it could be UPS or USPS? or maybe because they were carrying so many packaging at one time they were abused (boxes). And as far as the shocks themselves, i'm not sure how they look but maybe they checked each shock to make sure its the right one...instead of just checking the boxes? i'm not sure why it would be badly abused but i'm thinking maybe to make sure the event that happened a few weeks ago didnt happen again....

 

Its alright I'm just worried that I have all the bolts because I think I might be missing a few.

 

I don't think they usually come with bolts. I ordered a set of AGX for my Infiniti a couple years ago and it only came with the top rod nuts, no bolts or nuts for any of the bottoms. But on that order I did get a small adjustment screwdriver for each front strut and a sticker in each box. From Shaun I only got one screwdriver and no stickers. (No biggie)

The first shipment from Shaun came in one box that designed for one set of front struts, and the rears (Prelude) were packed tightly in there as well with minimal padding, which caused a little paint scraping to the primer coat on the spring seat on one of the fronts. Nothing serious; they're going to get dirty anyway. I'm sure Shaun took the bulk order from his distributor and packed them into as small of a box as he could. The replacement rears I got a couple days ago had been opened, probably to check to see if they were the right ones before he shipped. However, the top flap of the box has a hole to keep the rod in place during shipping but instead the rod was sticking out the side of the top flap a good 8 inches because the flap wasn't taped all the way around. No damage on receipt but I was definitely concerned.

 

Good news!!!! I finally got those rear shocks back, WOOOO!! They're part # 741039, which I believe is the correct #. But no check I don't have the receipt but I remember paying around $15 for shipping.

 

I got rear shocks part #734017. I thought those were the maxima ones. Please let me know thanks.

those are the numbers for the front.
741039 are the rear struts..

isnt it supposed to be 741039 (Quantity: 2) for the fronts,
734017 for the rear and
734018 for the rear??

 

got my shocks on friday..dont even know if theyre the right part numbers yet..
just saw them tonite (sunday) after coming back to queens for school..

the box was pretty badly messed up. my neighbor signed for it so its arite..not like she was gonna check on the shocks and stuff before the postal man left.

the last 3 inches of it..the shaft with the threaded part is bent!!!
should i just tell the shop to straighten it out if possible or send it back?? think its repairable just by hittin it with a mallet or whatever? i dunno what to do..
i dont wanna ruin it more than it already is..

edit: i thought the back shocks were 6 way adjustable?? mine is 8..

Bummer dude. Those rods are very hard and I doubt they'd straighten back it out perfectly. I don't think the last 3 inches will affect shock travel, but it still would have to be bent enough to line back up with the shock mounts. I don't know if that would be a real problem but if it happened to me, I'd contact Shaun direct and see what can be done. You'll probably need to send it back and/or put in a claim with the shipper.

 

its not like a 90 degree angle bend or anything..you know how when you burn glass rods in chem class..and theres a slight bend?? something like that. just like slightly bent in one spot so the rod isnt straight..ill prolly call up shaun later tonight..when its 9 here free nights..6 pm there in washington..hope hes still open

 

It looks like sub-par packaging and damage to the struts is now coming out as a relatively frequent problem. Add me to the other 3 members that have already posted here about this. Mine too came with one of the shafts sticking out the side, the paint to several of the struts was gouged down to the metal from the struts banging into each other in the box since they were just thrown in with nothing but thin plastic bags over them. My concern is that some of the threads are slightly damaged.

The back and front struts ARE supposed to come in two different boxes with I'm sure much better packaging inside. I don't mind them opening the box and verifying the right parts or even combining all 4 struts in one box to save money, which I'm sure is the reasoning, but it was done very very poorly.

I'm not sending back the struts or filing any formal complaint about this GD, let's just communicate to him that there is a problem and hopefully he can address it for any shipments he makes going forward. That way we can save some others on the GD the grief when they see there long awaited suspension in a box that looks like it went through the UPS hub in Iraq. And it's not a UPS issue, They can't control how the product is packaged inside the box.

 

Got my shocks today. They actually came in on friday but I wasn't home to take them. The shocks are a bit banged up though, very poorly packaged. My shocks didn't recieve the same damage as you guys though, mines are only scratched nothing bent or threads being damaged. Thanks to mecca for this great group deal even though this **** took over a month to recieve.

 

lol, dam, i'm gonna have a talk wit him on this situation, i'm glad you guys are receiving it but it should be a complete GD from purchase to receiving. I'm glad you guys are just gonna keep them because it would be so much more hassle sending them back (besides u Rafk2kmax). I'll see to it that the rest are packaged wit more protection.

 

i dont think he wants to deal with any more returns..i called him up like an hour ago and he said that i should just take it to the mechanic..im goin to jeffs to get these on..and he can take care of it hopefully. i just hope jeffs able to fix it up..

Raf2kmax, bro, u in NY, if u try to get it installed and for some reason it cant be fixed, i'll take responsibility and just buy that shock for u. I rather not but i dont want to see u go down like that, especially since i organized this whole thing and u already went through so much BS.

 

Shaun only has 4 shocks left and because he has to move on to other items to sell, he is ONLY KEEPING THESE SHOCKS FOR 1 MORE WEEK, then he's sending them back to the distributor. These shocks are READY TO SHIP!!! There were a few problems in the group deal before but all has been solved, he has these 4 sets in his possession and he will be shipping them out upon receiving payment. IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED, PLEASE post here, email me, or pm me, or AIM me ASAP. This is the LAST week to get shocks at the cheapest price ever!

i dont want you to go through all the hassle yourself bro.. but if it doesnt fit then its just gonna suck..
also, ive been askin around to bend this back in shape..a lotta people have been tellin me..once u bend metal..it can be real brittle later on..so i dunno man

if its bent i wouldnt advise you to try to install it... depending on how bent it is the hole probably wont line up at the bottom of the strut... and if its not straight, i would think you would be putting excess strain on the point that it bends...
since youve gone through all of this, the least the guy can do is send you a new one the same time youre sending it back to him to speed up the process, or even 2 day it over to you or something while youre sending back the bent one
