For those that are interested and live in California, what city are you guys located in? Are you guys in Laguna Hills? Can one pick up the pulley adn save on shipping cost? Also how much would it be for me total, for the pulley, and belts? Can you break down how much each belt is? Thanks. Get back to be cause I am pondering getting one of these. Oh one more thing, I have a system in my car. One amp is rated at 700w and the other is rated at 150 watts. How much of an effect will this have on my car/audio system. Thanks.

Hello,

You can pick up the pulley if you like, you will only save hte $5.00 on shipping.

Belt costs will be posted tomorrow.

I posted in the 4th and 5th gen forums all they said was it had no affect. So if you do a search, I bet that those questions and answers will come up. Although I am not %100 sure since I havent installed one on either car.

Belts I can get are Advantix.

Prices will be $29 and that includes extra added weight for shipping. So three people interested in belts...anyone else, because I am only ordering them once for this group buy and wont have them available later, so let me know ASAP.

Will the aluminum timing ring work with the magnetic crank position sensor? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it need to be made of steel/iron?

RVM used stainless steel, stainless steel and steel have different magnetic qualities. Stainless and alumium both are not magnetic so it shouldnt have any affect.

Here's the RVM pulley with a extendable pen magnet stuck to the timing ring.

What I am saying is that if these rings are going to be made of aluminum (to keep weight down), the magnetic crank position sensor (the sensor below the pulley on our VQ30's) will not be able to read the position of the crank pulley. I believe those tabs need to be made of some ferous material in order for our engines to start properly.

The picture above is a steel pulley. The ring I had to get my dimensions off of was stainless steel, which has the same magnetic qualities as Aluminum. I was not aware of this until I got a useful email from Kanaka telling me.

I will still have those pullies shipped out this week, I just need to call in and have some steel rings cut out.

The problem with the RVM pulley is oil leakage caused by the oil seal abrading the bare aluminum. Simply put, a Maxima pulley appears to require a hard metal sleeve to prevent abrasion from the oil seal. As a result, Unorthodox Racing UDPs produced for Nissan Maximas have always incorporated hard metal sleeves.

The RVM pulley does not incorporate a hard metal sleeve. As a result, it may only be a matter of time before oil leakage occurs with the use of an RVM UDP.

alright so what is the consensus on this pulley:

1. its better than the RVM cause oil leakage wont occur like RVM will

2. its not magnetic so the postition sensor will not work properly

I dont feel like the second was resolved on this thread.

I got an email from Nick on Friday. The reason he hasn't shipped yet was because he was getting steel (apparently, Kanaka convinced him about the magnetic requirement) timing rings cut and PLATED (so that it wouldn't rust). He said that he was waiting on the steel rings to come in. So, I think that takes care of (2) above. As far as (1) is concerned, the definitive UDP has a bronze ring so leaking will not be an issue.

what is the definitive UDP???????
is steel going to make it heavier?
who thinks this is still the best UDP for the money?

What is the definitive UDP? Lucky, see the title of this thread. Also, UDP = under drive pulley. As far as the steel ring weight is concerned, I asked Nick for the weight of the pulley with the timing ring. He said he will weigh the pulley with the timing ring when they (the timing rings) come in. As far as value, I still think this is the best so far. I wonder what the new price of the RVM UDP will be after they (RVM) start making the sleeve for their pulley.

2K2DEMAX: Thanks, you are correct, rings were made and are getting plated so they dont rust, weight wont increase anything more then the RVM or UR pulleys with their steel rings so its not going to be a big deal since the weights of the DMS pulley and UR pulley were shown without the rings.

Rings are suppose to be done Wednesday, I am working on getting this shipped tomorrow though so I gotta keep on the guys plating them. To those who sent payment, I am very sorry for the delay and your will be shipped ASAP.

Thanks
Nick

PLZ don't even consider getting RVM UDP

RVM UDP Su cks and they don't even stand behind the product they make.

and RVM states that they will increase the price by $25 to
$35 with sleeve on them, but i wouldn't recommand it because of customer service is really really bad!!!!

Hopefully I can join in on this GD and I love the way Defintive is trying to fix the problem and come up with solution fast.

And the fact that Defintive is holding back on shipping to fix the timing ring is really great customer service so that it won't cause any problem in the future because i would wait little extra and get quality product, where as RVM, they wanted to sell as much as UDP b 4 people finds out about the problem.

and still trying to sell bad product. They even ask me to sell my RVM UDP to someone else (i guess to someone who don't know about the problem) and even have the nerves to ask me to buy RVM UDP again once the new one with sleeve comes out. What a joke of company....

Hey, I am working with someone on creating a group buy, I only need 10 members who are willing to put up half the payment, which an estimate we have right now is about $140 if I get 10 buyers.

$140 is total right, so $70 up front?

Can you make them BLACK like the OEM color? Dealer's suck!

I ordered mine today. Can't wait to get it. Nick has been great with answering questions and solving techincal issues. He even ensured that I could still get the GD price after the 4/26 cutoff date since I had originally emailed him when the GD started with an interest in a Definitive pulley.
