brian...so would adding stillen camber plates to your setup comprimise the noise or rattles any...? in other words, in your experiences...do aftermarket camber plates create any issues I should know about...or should I just stick with the progress camber adjustment bolts?

Adding any sort of monoball-based camber plates will generate more vibration from the start, and rattles and looseness over time. My preference is camber bolts because they avoid all of that.

Cheston Chiu's maxima- was it light or heavy for a 4th gen? I believe there is the potential that there could be a 3-4 hundred lb or so weight difference. (Ive gotten the car down to 2850)
If so, would this be a problem, or would it possibly make the ride more performance-oriented? I could see it possibly de-tuning the factory dampening rate.

And can someone please help me out and tell me what these spring rates mean in terms of lbs?

you take the kg and multiply it by 55.8 to get lbs/in....

so 9kg is rougly 502lbs/in.

I actually have the same question...what if I have a 5th gen (soon)...it is slightly heavier than the 4th gens...these coilovers were tuned on cheston's max which have a slightly different balance and weight...would that make a big difference?

spaniard...how did you get your car down to 2850...? what have you taken out?

Thanks for the info michaelnyden,

For the weight reduction - NOTE: This is when I am running on a racetrack-

The 96 is the lightest yearmodel to start (I believe) so
3001 lbs stock,

Light battery - minus 30 lbs
Light wheels/tires - minus 25
But I've added a few things (mostly suspension, RSB, F/RSTB, LTB-2) -approx +50 lbs?

I have this (probably known to you) website to thank as well-

http://lighter.maxdes.net/

An easy way to do this is straight off of the site-
I did the following:

Aftermarket y-pipe (15lbs)*
UR or RVM UDP (3lbs)
Aftermarket Cat-back (5-10lbs)*
Remove Carpeting DIDNT DO Carpeting , cardboard, and everything else in trunk (6lbs)* Make it 5 since siding still there.
Remove Sound deadening under hood. (2lbs)*
Aftermarket Cat (2lbs)*
Lighter rim/tire combo (I have not personally fulfilled this with my 18”s, but it really does help.)
(12 lb wheels / 20 lb tires, assuming -25 lbs...)
[This is awesome for acceleration as you can estimate a factor of 8 weight reduction = 200 lbs from "driving feel" !!!]
Aluminum Flywheel (12lbs)*
Floor mats (Can switch to diamond plated and still save (3lbs) or remove for (10lbs)
Owners Manual (1lb)
Remove Jack (4lbs)*
Remove Metal piece that holds jack (2lbs)*
Remove Spare Tire (May be included in stage one, if not afraid of flat tires.) (28lbs)*
Remove Back seat (30lbs)*
Remove Passenger Seat (48lbs)*
Lighter Battery (13 lb battery, assuming stock 43 so = -30)

So thats around 3001- 228 + 50 = 2823 w/o gas, about 2910 full petrol. Ive enjoyed lighening almost as much as the other mods...

FWIW, the tuning done with Cheston's car should apply to most A32 and A33's. Whether his car was 2850lbs or 3050lbs shouldn't matter too much. The valving is designed to work with a range of spring rates, and that's what really get's matched up with the chassis spung weight. The original 400lb front springs were a tad soft to handle the ~2000lbs resting on the front thus production since has used 450lb ones.

I would like to use the spring rates of the JIC's or D2's....9kg front and 6 rear I believe...all in all, the fronts would end up being a little stiffer which I think is needed for our heavy front end...the progress ones are about 8kg in comparison and are actually slightly stiffer in the rear...so I most likely would want 500f/400r....if progress makes such a spring...

Those rates would be a touch stiff in the rear - suggest a little more in front or less in rear to keep from bouncing.

well then maybe 500f/and keep the 350r...

the only thing left to be desired then is monotube shocks instead of the progress twintube...
