Can anyone set up a GD on Cattman y-pipes?
Cattman is a good company and all, but honestly.. why not just go with warpspeed or budget instead?.. Even with GD prices I'm pretty sure the cattman would still be quite a bit more expensive. If anything, try and get a GD together for the full length headers.

Why buy a Cattman Y-pipe?
I've just seen this request for a group deal this morning. I'd say this is a possibility, but I need to check our inventory to see what we can handle right now (there are four different y-pipes between 95 and 03, so I need to confirm what we have in adequate #s). I've read the discussion about various differences in pipes, and I wanted to have some input on that topic. I also wanted to get some input on price to see if my best price was low enough to prompt a decent group deal – I cannot go lower than $299 from the regular price of $350. If the response is positive to the price and my following comments about our quality features, I will start a new group deal thread and use it to kick off our 5-year Anniversary (more to come) as the first Maxima specialists in the world.
Why Cattman Y-pipes?
When it comes to Cattman y-pipes, its the details that add up. In terms of power – because I do not accept that all y-pipes make the same amount – primary advantages include the use of appropriate tubing diameters that maximize hp over the entire rpm range, and a racing-grade (that is, a gradual merge with finished interior surfaces) 2-1 merge collector. There is also some effect from using a friction- and turbulance-neutral, interloc-lined flex section that is the same ID as the tubing. Lower interior friction is an additional advantage that results from using annealed 304 stainless tubing from the Rath Mill (smoother surface) and the bending skills of Burns Stainless (even, un-rippled bends). To my knowledge, none of the other brands include any of these features, and certainly not all of them.
We are the only ones to offer 304 stainless steel and the superior strength of TIG welding (as well as these other features) on our basic part without charging extra; some companies even charge extra for mandrel-bent tubing and a lined flex to eliminate the buzzing sound!!! We just don’t use that approach. Call us purists, but we feel there’s only one way to make a y-pipe properly, so we only make it that way.
Another quality issue that I'll mention relates to flanges. The flanges on our pipes are overthick and welded to the pipe. That means no warping or deformation when they are torqued down. Some brands just flare out the end of the tubing and the flex is left dangling unwelded there because the y-pipe design is so imprecise that the flanges have to be loose in order for it to fit. This is a lousy shortcut and cost saving measure (by avoiding the welding) because it means that when that flange is tightened against another, the only bearing surface between them is the edge of the flared tubing rather than the two flanges being face to face – makes for a lousy seal, prone to leakage, and the thin flanges inevitably get bent as they are tightened with the flared tubing keeping them apart.
Cattman pipes are not the cheapest and can't be (but a group deal will help). The differences I've described make them considerably more expensive to produce. Our objective is to offer the greatest value, as well as performance, and I think we accomplish that.

Can anything be done about pricing on the install package? There are really just the "current gen" y-pipes in the sense that we've been making the current design with the current fabricator with flawless results for two years now. I'm still looking into some supply issues to determine how big of a deal it will be and which applications will be included and then I will do a post, but we can definitely take care of some 5th gen Federals.
Price will not include shipping.
Feel free to seek the 3-gasket gasket installation set at your dealer, we use the same Nissan gaskets, but you will be surprised at how much they charge. We make the kits available as a convenience, our kit prices ($10 for yours) are below retail because we absorb a fair bit of the actual cost, but I can't afford to absorb it all as they are outrageously expensive.

I got an e-mail from Brian titled "Cattman Performance 5th Anniversary Newsletter (5th Anniv Sale)". The 02-03 y-pipes are listed in the promotion, but not the 95-01's. I'll send him an e-mail to get clarification and post here.

The newsletter was promoting the 02-03 y-pipe in particular because its new, but the group deal, which I will post in the morning, will include all y-pipe stock on hand (i.e. all 95-03 Maximas, I30s and I35s are covered). We don't have large numbers of any one y-pipe model, with the 99-01 CA/NLEV in shortest supply, but we have enough to do a decent group deal. More in the morning.
