Also, if I were to double up on the damplifier for example, how well does the dimpled surface hold the second layer?
For damplifier and STFU80, the temperature data, are those DLF readings? Thanks again. Sorry for being a pain with all the questions.
Oh yeah, how flexible is STFU since it's 80mil thick?

I am still "IN", but I don't want to be the only one (Prefer to get the 15+ people price)

Good questions Mike H.
The new Damplifier .v2 willn ot have the dimpled heat shield. I have found that the material needs as much surface area as possible to get the most benifit out of the material. When using multiple layers the dimples get in the way of that surface contact. With .v1 you really need to apply A LOT of pressure to get the SBS in to the dimples on the previous sheet. This makes it that much harder to install. .V2 does not have the dimples so it is easier to install multiple layer.
The Dimples were used to distributed heat, but have turned out to be more of a novelty thing. the SBS formula has been changed a bit to take on more heat to compensate for lack of the dimples.
The acoustic loss factor (same as dlf) and temperature ratings are listed.
STFU 80 can withstand over 300 degrees. damplifier is set at 230+ degrees
Hoep this helps

You can only edit for the first 1440 minutes or something like that. So I'll do a quick tally here. So far:
[list]
1. BLAZETIGER
2. HitManSE
3. topdog1207
WHERE IS EVERYBODY ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought there was a lot more interest.

forum members get vinyl liner for 50% off plus shipping.
no group deals on that.
If you really want to get rid of all exhaust and road noise, then you must use a combonation of materials. Vibration dampers are the frist layer, then a barrier aborber composite to reflect and minimize sound. this is what vinyl liner does.
I reccomend it if you are serious about making your car quiet.

those are a measurement of vibration reduction oncold stell at 200 hz. the ratings are the acoustic loss factors.
I personaly dont like this sytem since it measures sound to rate vibration, and the tests can easily be scued. however they are widely accpeted in the industry and are a must.
Hope his helps

yeah
though the numbers can be altered. I chose not to alter my numbers, even though I should have if I want to keep up with the game.
A lot of companied alter thier number buy using 2 layers of material rather than 1. or folding the damper in creases to add weight, makig the numbers higher.
I wasnt exactly happy with the numbers from STFU-80, but I have done many side by side comparisons, and have seen this stuff in action. it is incredible. nubmers were disapointing though
Toa naswer the questions about damplifier reducing sound. it does a good job of that, especially w/ 2 or 3 layers.
but to get rid of raod noise, exhaust noise completely, you really need to do several products. vinyl liner being the best one for that
it reflects and minimized the sound waves
Vibrations dampers dampen structure borne sound, limiting the amount of noise.
Barriers and abosrber dampen airborn sound waves.
Hope this helps

to properly do the rear dash, do the following
2 layers Damplifier top of rear dash
1 layer underneath top rear dash
1 layer Rattle Pad or Vinyl Liner top of rear dash.
this is (IMO) the proper way to dampen the rear deck
hope it helps

! kit will do 4 doors nicely. I have about 40 feet in each of my doors and they are dead as can be.
1 kit for 4 dours would give you a bit more than 12 feet in each door. thats not too bad..
Thurdays payments is OK

Yeah. next week will be fine.
just so everyone knows, I still need people to test ou tthe liquid damper for me, as well as my new closed cell foam; black bologna.
if anyone wants to be a test dummy for some new second skin products email me.
I can give them away for free, but how does 70% off sound?
