Resonator or No Resonator?
Resonator or No Resonator?
I have a question for anyone that can help. I have an 03 Maxima SE 6 Speed and just put on a PowerTech 1011 Muffler which has an inlet size of 2.5" Nissans piping I believe is 2" or 2.25". So I was thinking of bringing the car to Meineke and having them take 2.5" piping and running it from the Cat to the muffler eliminating the Resonator. Making it a more free flowing exhaust. Does anyone know if this will add a little HP or will it lose HP? Also will it make the Max much louder? I am just worried that there won't be enough back pressure if I do this. So any and all help is appreciated.
bah, I say resonators are overrated. On my 95 I have a warpspeed y pipe (best $$$ I've spent yet), "high flow" (read: non-existant) cat, and OBX-H catback exhaust. Yeah, its a little loud, but I love it, pretty aggresive sounding.
thats a good question. im going to do the custom exhaust, and im not sure whether i should keep the resonator on, or not. I'm thinking if i dont like it, i cant always have them take it off and weld on a straight pipe. well see. i stil have to decide on the muffler i want.
