Need 30 people to get Quaife ATB Differential...

Come on, let's get some Quaifes!!
You know you would rather a Quaife that a ****ty phantom grip w/clutch/pressure plates that can wear out and cost you in the end...
I want to start a petition to get Quaife to make another batch of 30 to distribute to Cattman...it CAN be done!
I'll try to keep you posted.

hell, I'll bite, though I would also be willing to try out KAAZ to manufacture 25 units (that's what Brian C. stated was the minimum with deposit, correct?). With a road course opening up 15 minutes from my place, this $#!$! expensive little mod will hopefully be worth it.

You might want to mention that, unlike some of the gd here that people bail on (TS ecu, ahem...), this one requires money down sight unseen.

I had thought quaife went out of business, hence no warranty for the existing owners of the quaife lsds.

no they're still in business, just the business for 4th gen Maxima lsd's was virtually non-existant from the get-go so Cattman saw no need to order another batch.

I love my Quiafe, but I am concerned about that fact that they do not exist anymore currently. Can you address the lifetime warranty issue while you are working on your deal?

I can address the lifetime warranty for your quaife if ya want. the KAAZ LSD's look like the LSD we will be dealing on. I hear they are pretty reputable and last a long time(just gotta break in the pressure plates on them). Cattman told me that total, they will run around 1150 each. And they will fit all manual trannies from 95-01. So if any of you guys knows anyone who fits the description and wants a LSD from KAAZ, let them know about this plan.
I need 25 people to put down 50% deposits about 3 months or so in advance. In other words, about 500 bucks.

Quaife or Kaaz... I'd prefer a gear-based unit, but clutch is actuallybetter for me in some situations...

Unfortunately I don't think we'll actually get 25 people to put down money, but I'll be one of them if there is.

thanks for the taking the initiative. this gd will probably move at glacial pace to get 25 names.

Maybe it would be a good idea to start a new thread for the Kaaz lsd deal with links for info and terms of the gd?

No worries about your warranty, Quaife is in business and thriving from what I hear. But I wondered about another thing you might be thinking about and called them up when I was selling the last few units and asked, "since I took the whole batch and you have none, how do you take care of somebody if their diff needs warranty work once they're all gone?" I was told that's no issue. Although each application is different, they're all basically constructed from the same huge parts inventory and the internal parts are always available.

Interestingly, a few have been lost in wrecks, but I haven't heard from a single customer about a Quaife needing work.

Quite a shame its not feasible to order more these days. If you follow US monetary policy you can decide for yourself who to blame for this (and vote accordingly), but the US$ has lost almost 40% against the British Pound since I bought the first batch of Quaifes. Cattman Performance sponsored the design and single run of 30, and they weren't cheap back then. I'd have to charge $1550-1600 retail for them now.

The Kaaz seems like a very viable alternative because I can keep the price around what the Quaife was, or a bit lower. They're great differentials - I'm not enough of a racer to know first hand, but some would prefer their design over the ATB and KAAZ is a definitely a JDM favorite.

I'd be glad to support a group deal if enough interest comes up - I have to buy a fair number over 25, but that's what it takes to make the deal work. I'll watch from a distance, Maximeltman will manage things for now.

Thanks for the info Brian!

Anyone have a good thread handy of a LSD vs ATB debate?

ATB = automatic torque biasing, right?

Quaife's ATB design always sounded like the ideal LSD design to me. What kind of LSD (viscous, helical, other) is the KAAZ design and how good is it really?

The quiafe is an automatic torque biasing differential .

Here is the link for the Quiafe:

EDIT: Check out post 23: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ghlight=quaife

For some reason I was thinking it was anti torque biasing differential, silly me

let's flick this discussion over to the KAAZ thread...

Maximeltman started a new thread under a KAAZ GD subject line, let's shift the posts over to that in hopes of getting this rolling.
