not to sound noobie... what do brushings and motor mounts do for the car? Ive been on this org pretty long but never found out what they do. any insight will be appreciated. If I want to upgrade the brushings and motor mounts what should I order?

Brian whats the drop on the progress springs for the 03 maxima? Do these prices include shipping?

Thanks!

A spring set weighs quite a bit and the shipping cost from Tucson to Marion, Ohio would be $25.38.

Wherever two metal parts have to be strongly attached to each other, but allow for a limited amount of play or movement (relative to each other), you'll probably find a bushing. The bushing's role is to control and limit movement, and control any looseness or slop between the two parts.

Obviously suspensions involve a lot of metal-to-metal parts links that have to permit limited/controlled movement between them, and the bushings are critical. You stock bushings are primarily made from a natural rubber compound that will deteriorate from constant movement over time, particularly if exposed to oil, fuel, etc.

Urethane, or polyurethane bushings are a more advanced material than the OEM rubber parts. The denseness of the material can be controlled during manufacturing, and different bushing set applications have different densities. Even in a new car, replacing rubber bushings with urethane versions will improve performance (whether they're engine mount or suspension bushings), but in a car with 50k, 100k, or more miles, the difference can be quite dramatic. You don't realize how much slop there is in the front suspension (not just bumps, but STEERING too!) until you replace the key bushing sets.

The Progress Sport Springs for the 95-99 and 00-03 Maximas drop the front 1.7" and the rear 1.3". The 04-07 springs drop the 6th gens 1.8" in the front and 0.8" in the rear. The $119 price does not include shipping, but you won't find them at that price anywhere else - its $20 below Progress's lowest warehouse distributor price. Shipping to Boston would be $29.76.

I hope this is useful information.

That will be $27.83 to ship from AZ to Virginia. Give us a call tomorrow (monday, and I'll note that we're opening late, about 12-1 MST, 2-3 EST), we've got plenty in stock.

Brian, can you get the front ES motor mount for 99? I know the rear is more significant, but want to replace both.

I'm interested in both motor mounts, lower control arm bushing set, front sway bar bushing set, front sub-frame connector set, and end link grommets (I think 4 total), shipped to 43230.

Thanks.

No question, all 2001s use our YG5CA y-pipe. We have those in stock, and the shipping is $15.93 from Arizona to Illinois.

Total price comes to $172 for the parts + $10 shipping. I've got the other sets, but we're backordered on the motor mount pairs. Just waiting on Energy Suspension, not exactly sure when they'll arrive.

Well, no, unfortunately we don't. If you look back to the sale ad, I tried to make it clear that these came with terrible instructions (just some lousy pictures that were basically worthless), and that's one reason they were priced so low. We suggested in our sale ad, and on the phone, that the installer would need to know the basics of groundwire installations.

I don't point these things out to be defensive, I just want it to be known that we also saw this as a product deficiency, and wanted to make sure that any buyers were well-informed prior to sale.

Maybe my math is a little rusty, but does that mean the motor mount set is $101? Here is how I have it broken down:

$172 total

LCA $29
Sway Bar $10
End link $10
Subframe $22
Motor mounts $101

I generally see the motor mounts for around $80

Its always a good idea to put on a fresh set of KYB boots/bumpstops when you change struts, its the only chance you'll have. Its not like they completely seal out the dirt, but they block out a lot of it and seem to prolong the life of the strut or shock. Plus, the bumpstop is the right length for lowering springs, you don't have to shorten it.

We sell the set, and a small discount applies with you buy them with struts/shocks.
