I hope you can help me. I bought a "Cattman" Y-pipe from a fellow .org member and I was wondering if there is any stamping or marks to indicate that it is, in fact, a true Cattman product. Btw, I will be hitting you up for a catback in about a month.

Sure, there are a number of characteristics that you'll only find on Cattman y-pipes, but some are easier to describe than others. A more obvious difference would be the collector design. The Cattman Y is a merge collector, where each of the downpipes are mitre-cut so they merge together gradually and then they narrow to the same diameter as the rear tube (w/ the flex in it), and it welds on there. This design minimizes turbulance and back pressure to maximize performance, but is much more expensive to manufacture.

Most, if not all, other y-pipes use a swaged collector, where the two downpipes are cut off square, then welded side-by-side into the collector, a section of thick-walled tubing that's been stretched (swaged is the correct term) into an oval on one end (where the downpipes are welded in), and the other smaller/circular end is welded to the rear tube (w/ the flex). This design generates excessive turbulance as the gasses are dumped into the small chamber at the entry to the swaged tube, then abruptly forced by backpressure from a larger volume through the smaller outlet.

Anyway, if you're still unsure, feel free to send a picture via email or PM. Take one of the entire y-pipe so I can make sure you have the right version and perhaps a close-up of the collector.

Does the JWT short ram come with a place to put the temp sensor?

 

not sure if i'm too late but what is included in the control arm bushing set? I need to make an order asap.

 

The front ES bushing set for the 95-99 Maxima/I30 includes two large bushings, four small ones, metal sleeves and washers. This set would sitll be available at last weeks prices, and we have plenty in stock. Just give us a call at 520.575.6195, we're open 9-5 MST/PDT.

It does not, but that's not a problem. With a hotwire-based MAF like Nissan uses, the temp sensor does not play a significant role in engine operation. You can just zip-tie it to the side.

No one in the Western Hemisphere knows and understands Nissan engine operation like JWT, and if they say it doesn't matter then I believe it.

Just got the Progress springs in today, thanks again Brian!

 

Recieved my full exhaust I am very happy with it, everything looks great, it was what I expected it to be. Just one thing you left out that we talked about though, the screw that screws into the bung on the resonator part of the b-pipe, for the oxygen sensor simulator for a 96 nissan maxima. If you could ship that out to me asap, that would be greatly appreciated as I am gong to be installing everything very soon.

Its certainly possible that we overlooked including the O2 plug, but please make sure you've checked the install kits (most likely w/ the b-pipe) and the port itself.
