Please read post #11. It basically says that I have to do some testing before I can determine if there is a gain to be had or not.

But the 4th gen kit is coming first. Then I will see if it will work on the 5th gen and see if there is a potential gain.

how hard are these to install if you don't take it to a shop and have basic tools (wrenches and stuff)

They are very to install for a mechanic. The labor should be 2-3 hours. Do not let a shop charge you for more than 3 hours. You don't have to relieve fuel pressure.

If you are thinking about doing the job yourself, then please familiarize yourself with the installation procedure. I have added the instructions on my website for anybody to read over prior to purchase.

Another stupid question, how much (if any) gain would someone be looking at by doing this whole thing... but not using the 2 lower intake manifold spacers? (I've familirized myself with instructions, they seem moderatly easy and very straight forward but I'm just reluctant to do the LIM part due to the possibility of so many of so many things going wrong.)

If you are going to remove your UIM then you may as well do the whole set up. There's always room for something to happen but take your time and you'l be straight. Definitely recommend getting the whole set, otherwise you'll lose the full potential of this set up.

As Orgullo said, you should definitely go ahead and install the LIM. The hardest part is removing the elbow and UIM. Once you have that removed, the LIM is only a few more bolts and it's off. VERY easy! You don't have to mess with the fuel rail or anything.

When I designed the original kit, I was VERY surprised that the LIM spacers helped so much. Yes, they are only 1/16" thick, but they lowered the LIM temps by 30 degrees!!! They definitely help a LOT when used with the rest of the kit and nobody should ever consider not installing them just due to added labor.

The 4th gen kit is still in the works. I have already completed my initial design and gotten around several problems, including the UIM coolant bypass and stock EGR tube fitment. I will be starting the CAD drawings within a week and hope to have a prototype sometime in Nov. It takes a LONG time to produce the CAD drawings when you don't copy the gaskets. I always based my drawings off of the actual manifolds and make sure everything is port matched! 150 R&D hours went into the VQ35DE kit and I expect this kit to be roughly the same.

I am interested IF you make a vq30 de-k spacer. I am turbocharged, and would definitely love to lower my intake temp. lower temp=more power when in boost. so keep us posted when you do make them.

Definitely. I'll make sure to keep everyone posted on the DEK kit. I just have to prove a gain first, which might not happen with the plastic composite intake manifold you guys have. We'll see. After we conduct the dyno and temp testing, we'll know for sure then.

I'm pretty **** and want only quality performance parts, that's why Aarons spacers are on my new Turbo Max, even the tech's doing the Turbo install commented on how well they are made and with a Turbo system your top priority is decreasing heat, makes total sense to have these babies on my ride as well as contribute to the HP gains!!!

On a side note, Aaron (NWP) is not a sponsor for my car in any way (I paid full price), my statements are based on real live performance feel from one of the best bang for the buck mods that can be realized on a Max. This technology is not new, it's proven on almost every spacer kit made for performance cars, Aaron put himself out there and offered them to the Max community, we need to support him!!!

As chernmax mentioned, the spacer kit between the VQ35 Maxima and Altima are the same regardless if they have an egr system.

If you do have an EGR system, everything still remains perfectly operational with the spacers installed.

If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks.

I'm sorry. No updates yet. I am still in the testing phase for the 4th gen VQ30DE kit. Once that kit is released, I might test the spacers on the DEK.

Thanks for checking in! Let me know if you have any more questions.

Aron92SE. You stated first post for a 2004 - 2008 Nissan Maxima (6th generation 3.5L DOHC V6 VQ35DE with EGR). I just got the 08 SE. I don't know what VQ35DE with EGR means. I want to enjoy the new car feel, but I also am very interested in gaining horsepower while keeping the engine cooler. I am looking at getting a Racingline Performace FSTB, aftermarket air intake kit. Will any of these effect installation? Your website says these are for the SL. They will fit the SE also right? Will everything 'factory' still bolt up and perform as normal? With the additional height of the manifold, the hood would close also? Sorry for so many questions, but I really am interested.

It's ok. I'm happy to answer any questions. Yes, this spacer kit will fit on your 2008 Maxima without ANY problems. You do have an EGR system.

Also, many people have a Racingline FSTB and spacers and it still installs correctly. If you do run into any fitment issues with the FSTB, you can put a couple washers under the strut bar mounts to raise it slightly. But I am pretty sure the Racingline bar fits with my spacers without any issues.

Also, my website says it will fit the 3.5L. It didn't specify the SL. Sorry, the text is kind of small and may be hard to read.

And finally, yes, everything will bolt up and everything will still function perfectly normal, besides the fact that you will now have an intake manifold that will be 40 degrees cooler and have an extra 10hp and 12ft-lbs of torque. And yes, the hood will still close without any clearance issues. The intake manifold is only raised by exactly 3/16". The spacers are a 1/4" thick, but since you are eliminating the 1/16" OEM intake gasket, the increase in height is only 3/16".

There is a support bracket on the backside of the elbow near the throttle body. This support bracket must be removed from the engine in order for the intake manifold to properly bolt back into place with the spacers installed. This won't effect anything. It's a meaningless bracket.

Over a 100 people with the VQ35DE engine have installed my spacers without ANY problems. I have not gotten a SINGLE negative comment or problem reported back to me. Everyone seems to truely love this modification. And for good reason, it's a good HP bang for the buck!

VQ35DE=the sex that's under our hood that is also shared by our more masculine brother...the 350Z as well as others!

The spacers work very well d00d...get them!

I have the spacers, Fujita CAI, and RacingLine FSTB...no problems, although I would recommend the RacingLine MMI because once the FSTB is installed, it will be close to the Intake Manifold (IM) and adding the Motor Mount Inserts (MMI) will stiffen the rocking of the motor, thus eliminating the chance of the IM touching the FSTB.

Good luck

It's ok.

But let me just add that the motor will only touch the strut bar if the car is in reverse. If the car is in Drive, it twists in the opposite direction and away from the bar. So if it's not touching at idle, unless you are revving or racing your car in reverse, it still won't touch.

These spacers are to be used with Black RTV without stock gaskets. The stock gaskets are eliminated b/c they are improperly sized to the intake ports. For the best airflow, no gaskets are recommended.

You can use two stock gaskets with each spacer, but this can get very costly and it's not going to give you the best performance.

Also, Permatex recently came out with something called "1 Minute Gasket - The Right Stuff", which is far superior to silicone Black RTV. I suggest that you use this if you are paranoid about intake leaks and/or you are turbo/SC'd above 8psi.

But when correctly applied, Black RTV will easily seal the intake manifold and I've personally tested it to hold 8psi of pressure without any problems.
