This is strictly a block plate kit for those that have removed their VIAS (Variable Induction Air Control System). This will hurt low end power, but since you are removing an obstruction, it will help top end.
The other use for this block plate and considered the best option as far as performance is known as the SSIM (Secret Sauce Intake Manifold). That name was created years ago by a member of the Maxima discussion forums. This involves cutting the shelf out of the main chamber of the upper intake manifold and removing the VIAS assembly. This will still lose a little low end power, but the gains in the top end are very noticeable. It's definitely a modification that is worthwhile.
We offer a Thermal Intake Spacer Kit for the 95-99 Maxima also that we have proved HP gains with along with an average intake manifold temperature decrease of 43 degrees! Heat soak is drastically reduced with this kit. You can find more details here:

Also, what do you mean by valve cover plates? Please send your product idea to [aaron@nwpengineering.com] to discuss development further.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Recently, I have seen more and more people are producing these plates themselves in order to save money. That is why I decided to produce a less expensive VIAS/SSIM Block Plate Kit for those on a budget.
Instead of a fully CNC machined Block Plate with a raised NWP logo, it will be engraved. It's still CNC machined out of 6061 billet aluminum and holds the same tolerances as before, but there is much less machining time with the engraved logo.
The first prototype is complete and looks great. The final retail price will probably be set at $40 plus $6 shipping, but I plan on launching these plates at a discounted price for a limited time. I haven't determined quite yet what the sale price will be, but you will not be disappointed!

I hope to have these in stock and ready for sale within 2 weeks. Thanks again for all your support!

Gas mileage should not be noticeably changed. You will lose a small amount of low end power, that most say isn't noticeable. But, in theory, if you cruise at that particular rpm where you lost your power, then gas mileage should be hindered.
But so far, I have not seen anybody claim to see any changes in their gas mileage. Are you planning on doing the VIAS Removal by itself or the SSIM where you physically cut out of the divider in the upper intake manifold?

The Basic VIAS Block Plate Kit comes with a plate that is machined from a 1/4" sheet of 6061 billet aluminum and the logo is engraved instead of raised. So it is not machined on the front and back to give it a perfect surface. But, the surface tolerance is plenty flat enough for it to seal on the manifold with a gasket. It is then cleaned and polished by hand.
Both VIAS Block Plate Kits serve the same purpose. Choose the Premium Kit if you love to keep your engine bay clean and do not want to sacrifice finish quality.
Here is a comparison:
Raised logo and fully machined with no machining lines:

Hey Aaron just got the plate last night! Installed right away and it was pretty easy. Although I guess it takes some skill to get this done in less than 30 mins... you might want to add in the instructions to let the car cool down for 1+ hours before install. I burned my fingers pretty good trying to get the old plate off. Not that its your fault Im just impatient I guess I could have waited...
anyways it went on great, looks good, and it seems to have boosted my top end a little, probably comparable to the gain I got from installing an intake. Considering the injen was $380 CAD and the blockoff plate was $80 CAD its DEFINITELY worth the money. Thanks alot!

Thank you for your business. I'm glad you are happy with the results of the VIAS Removal.
It's always good practice to let the engine and exhaust cool down before working on it. It sounds like you need our Thermal Intake Spacers to cool that intake manifold down. It can get pretty hot sometimes without them.

That is the expected date at the moment. But it's not set in stone. It's been VERY tough keeping everything in stock lately. On several occasions, the batch of VIAS Block Plate Kits or Spacers would sell out before we even have them in stock. Those that placed their order in advance had their order shipped and the Expected Ship Date was pushed back for all future orders.
I apologize for this. It's been unexpected and we are producing everything as fast as we can. We should be able to start having all the Spacers and VIAS Block Plate Kits in stock on a regular basis by mid/late Feb.
If you need the Premium VIAS Block Plate Kit as soon as possible, it would be best to go ahead and place your order and get on the waiting list. Then, your order would ship the same day we get them back in stock. As mentioned before, it's possible all existing orders may have their package ship while the Expected Ship Date is pushed back again for all future orders. The Premium VIAS Block Plate is becoming pretty popular.

An engine tune and extended rev limiter is recommended if you want to get the full potential out of the SSIM.
