I think you're looking at the y-pipe that is sold with our headers. That y-pipe can only be used with our headers (and vice versa). Since the header outlets - where the y-pipe bolts on - are in completely different locations than the stock manifold outlets, they require a purpose-built y-pipe. The header y-pipe also has other features (equal length downpipes, a larger diameter tail section, etc.) we haven't included in "stand-alone" y-pipes, but are essential for the performance and sound of our header system.
Also worth noting that stand-alone y-pipes make less power on the VQ35DE motor (7-8whp) than they do on the VQ30DE (11-13whp), due (IMHO) to two factors - 1) when the VQ30DE y-pipe is removed, one or both precats also come off (depending on emissions type), and 2) the stock y-pipe on the VQ35DE flows better than earlier Federal and CA/NLEV Y's on the VQ30DE, so the gap between stock and performance versions is smaller.
Fortunately, the opposite is true with our header/y-pipe system, which makes more power on the VQ35DE than on both versions of the VQ30DE motor, rather than less. Due to the really large gap between the performance of stand-alone y-pipes (7-8whp on the VQ35DE) and header/y-pipe systems (22-25whp on the VQ35DE) we weren't selling many y-pipes, despite the big difference in price (OTOH, header hp is cheaper "per whp", costing $35/each, while each y-pipe whp is $10 more @ $45). We'll be putting the 95-01 y-pipes back into production soon, but probably not the 02/03 version.

SAFC to make them work properly? My friend, you've been the victim of bad advice, who told you that anyway? [PM me if you don't want to say publicly.]
I'd be surprised if 10% of our customers use piggyback fuel tuning with the headers, and I don't either. Like any effective performance mod, a good SAFC-type setup will make more power, but its certainly not required to get +22-25whp results from a VQ35DE with the Cattman headers. The stock ECU has no problem adapting to, and making power with our header/y-pipe system.
By the time you get a SAFC on the car and properly tuned, you'd probably spend more than the headers cost, so you see, I've just halved the bottom line. You can afford them after all! ;-)

Thanks for the headers Brian. They look great. Can't wait to have them installed!
Also, about the tuning. I was talking to somebody at firestone, and they were telling me that buying a piggyback fuel tuning system is not necessary because when you take it to a shop to have the car dynoed, they can adjust the air/fuel ratio right there with their machine to make maximum horsepower. Is that true?

hey brian, i was looking to buy the "Progress RSB for 95-99 Maxima I30, the most effective RSB and the best value; reg. $189, only $129.99! In stock for immediate shipment." on the cattman website it says 139. which is the current price? and is that the shipped price or b4 shipping? thanks.

I'm not a mechanic, but I don't believe that its possible to tune air/fuel from the ECU. Does anyone have different information?

A lot of the website prices are not current, but typically they're too low. The regular retail price for this RSB is $149.99, but its on sale this month for $129.99 + shipping. Give us a call, its a heck of a part for a great price.
Brian
Yes, Chris, those are all the ES suspension bushings for the 95-99 Maxima. The price is still $49.99 and we have all three sets in stock.
Note that this doesn't include the motor mount or lower front subframe bushings; they're not a part of this package because they are not suspension-related. I'm not sure where you're located, but shipping is pretty reasonable.
Brian
Chris,
I noticed in your sig that you're waiting for a MAF adapter. Are you aware that we sell a beautiful billet aluminum MAF adapter for $45? Even the 4 bolt holes are threaded. Plenty in stock, just let us know.
Brian
That rather complicated part went out of production a couple years ago when we lost out supplier of affordable titanium tubing AND the company making them changed hands (new owners not interested in car parts). The 89-94 version is the only one left in stock, which is unfortunate since the version for the 02/03 Max was the only FSTB I know of that didn't get caught between the intake manifold and the hood (ours angled back so it was behind the intake manifold instead of above it).

– Energy Suspension Motor Mount Bushing, rear only (1 bushing) for 95-03 Maximas/I30s/I35s with auto transmissions. NOT inserts, they replace the entire stock bushing; reg. $60, only $45.99.
Hey Brian, looking for both front & rear, do you have any front that are electronic?
Hey Brian, looking for both front & rear, do you have any front that are electronic?
No, ES doesn't make one for the larger 4" diameter hole in the electro-mount (the ES bushing fits a 3.5" hole). In most automatics just the front mount is electro, and a single ES bushing in the rear works surprisingly well, but some of the 00-01 Maximas have electro-mounts front and rear. I hear its possible to use non-electro-mounts (w/ the ES bushing) from a manual tranny instead.

Hey Brian, thanks for the Progress rsb! My friends and I just installed it last night. Haven't had much of a chance to test it out yet, but so far it feels great! Body roll has been reduced so much. I'm very happy with my purchase

EDIT: A thread was started about this (not by me): http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...e-5-5-gen.html

Brian,
I have a completely stock 2002 i35.
What are the dyno results for the 3" catback and the 2.5" catback systems?
Are both of these kits direct bolt-up or do I have to modify any body components on the car?
What would my total cost be for the 3" system w/ resonator & o2 sensor ports?
Are installation kits included?
Shipping to 76133?
And I would flip for a Catmann Ti FSTB!!!!!!!!

Hi James,
To be honest, we don't dyno test catback systems. They are uncomplicated exhaust parts and there's no point in trying to fine-tune for more power like with headers; we know if we just follow the basic rules of exhaust design and don't cut any corners we'll get the maximum amount of whp possible.
Based on years of feedback from customers' (who have done dynos), our catback for the 02/03 Maxima makes around 10-12whp. For most people the 2.5" system is fine, but one of our customers took a 3" catback from a turbo and put it on a n/a VQ35DE motor, dynoed it, and it seemed to make pretty good power, which is what generated most of the current interest in this 3" catback.
Here's that link: 3" catback dyno run That's about all I can tell you about the performance difference between 2.5" and 3" catbacks.
All Cattman Performance exhaust parts are bolt-on, do not require modifications to the vehicle, and include installation kits. The price of our 3" catback with a resonator is $739.99; if you want one O2 port, the total is $759.99. Shipping to your zip code is $60.45.

Do you have any polyurethane bushings for just the sway bar end links. Here's a picture of what I'm looking for-

and I was also wondering if you had the poly sway bar bushings (the ones the sway bar actually goes through)

We have FSB endlink bushings for the 95-99 Maxima and I30, and we have FSB frame bushings (the ones the bar goes through) for all 95-03 Maximas, I30s and I35s. I think that all of these bushing sets are mentioned in the September sale ad.
Brian
your right. I guess i was mesmerized by the huge list.
I'm going to take some of each of these -
– Energy Suspension 20mm Front Sway Bar Frame Bushing Set for 95-99 Maximas/I30s; reg. $19, only $12.99.
– Energy Suspension Front Sway Bar End-Link Bushing Set for 95-99 Maximas/I30s; reg. $19, only $11.99.
I'll call tomorrow

wow, i didn't know that.. that would've been good for people whose intake spacers have created clearance issues with their FSTB.. i hope mine will be alright
If you were as familiar with those two parts as I am, there would be no dilemma. We sold the ADDCO bars for a few years, late 90s and early 00s, because it was the only alternative to the overpriced/overengineered Stillen RSB.
There were two fundamental problems. Quality control was an absolute nightmare - missing parts in the attachment hardware, damaged parts, you name it. Every batch we received had at least a 10% problem rate, and sometimes up to 25% of the units had something wrong with them. The folks in the front office were very nice, but there seemed to be a complete disconnect with the factory floor, and there were never any lasting improvements.
In theory, they could have fixed the QC issues since then (though I doubt it, its a family-owned business, and the same people are in charge), but that would not have addressed problem #2, which is that the quality of their attaching hardware is poor and the design is weak and fundamentally flawed. Specifically, they create brackets by bending the wrong bolts, the wrong way, and it results in a weakened bracket that can snap unexpectedly. The connection to the car is not as strong as it needs to be. I'll also toss in that the installation instructions were very poor (and the instructions with the Progress bar are quite good).
We knew we were having QC issues throughout the time we sold the ADDCO part, but came to realize the problems with the attachment hardware over time (which they refused to acknowledge), as customers complained, and once that became apparent we dropped the brand like a hot rock. We had heard about a small up-and-coming suspension company that made a great product, so we took the project to Progress Technologies. They started with the basic idea behind the ADDCO product, and then re-engineered everything, resulting in the absolutely excellent and problem-free Progress RSB that we've been happily selling for the last 6 years.
QC issues are extremely rare, not even 1% over the hundreds (or maybe thousands) of units we've sold. The quality and strength of the critical attachment hardware is outstanding, and I don't think we've EVER seen a problem come up with an installed unit.
I'm not sure what prices you're looking at, but I was real surprised recently to see that the ADDCO bar was actually priced higher than the Progress. That's great, for once the superior product has the lower price.
Long answer to a short question, but I think that about covers it.

My comments compared the 4th gen Progress and ADDCO bars; the ADDCO design for the 3rd gen isn't great, but its the only RSB for that Maxima (and its completely different from the 4th/5th gen design). The website's out of date, just go by the sale ad above, which prices the 95-03 Progress RSB at $129.99.

The JWT POP Charger intake includes an S&B filter that's purpose built to their specs for this intake. It is am oiled cotton felt-style filter, very similar to the K&N. S&B is based in southern California, this isn't a cheap imported filter.
