Define "plug and play" lol.....Drilling holes in the back of a headlight or fog assembly is not exactly plug and play. Drilling in the back of the headlight was cake, used a 7/8in hole saw and the rubber grommet sits in it nice and snug.

Drilling a hole in the back of the fog light assembly was a b1tch. The stock wiring through the fog assembly makes it difficult and I had to use a Dremel to cut off the plastic tabs on the back of the fog cap in order to be able to drill. There is also a ventilation spout in the way that need to be cut off. Not enough space for the 7/8in, had to use 5/8 and then carefully grind it wider with the Dremel. Also needed to drill bigger hole in negative tab and attach it to the ground inside the fog capsule.

Fog pics...

A couple side notes for others who are planning on purchasing:
1. If you have a 2001, you need to plug in the ballast BACKWARDS to the low beams work. Took me an hour to figure this out
2. Make sure you order the H3c fog bulbs, not the H3 (not a big deal but you will have to bend the glare guard down a bit to make them fit.)

With that said, I'm not knocking the product, just hoping this will help when others install. The lights look amazing, very bright, nice 6000k color that matches my angel eyes and LED parking and sidemarkers. And undoubtedly, the best price I've found by far. Not totally plug n' play, but to me it was worth it.

Will post pics of the light/color a bit later.

I need to get at least 1 replacement HID bulb but most likely two. my question is that I have 2 ballasts and I have the adapter from the ballast but not the 3 prong part that plugs into the headlight connection and connects the headlight to the ballast.... If I ordered replacement bulbs is the connection included? And what is the price for 2 replacement 6000k bulbs? Thanks

Ok. After watching this post for the past few months, I think I kinda know what I'm looking for, but want to verify this with you:

What I'm looking for, is an H7 bulb 'kit' (preferrably in the 5k-to-6k temp range) that would plug into a 9004 socket. Now, while the bulb is essential, the socket part isn't, as I'm currently in the process of doing a headlight conversion, and will have to make the two separate headlights work with the one OEM 9004 socket (no biggie, though).

Is this something that's do-able on your end, and is the PayPal price the one I should look to pay for it? If so, I'll order today.

You need a 9004 bulb, not an H7, if you have a 9004 socket.
The socket is the most essential, if you are doing a headlight conversion, then you need to determine what the actual socket will be on the new headlight.

Well, I already have the headlights (dual H7 bulbs currently), but I want to - if at all possible - make it so that I can just plug it into the 9004 socket of the car. While I'm perfectly capable of "rewiring" the 9004 socket in the car to accept pretty much any wiring configuration, I'd be kinda hard-pressed to change up the headlight configuration (in other words, there's no way a 9004 bulb will fit in my dual H7 housing).

What I was originally intending, was to just purchase an H7 kit and rewire my car to accept the wiring configuration of the kit. If you think that'd be easier, I can do that.

Your thoughts on this...

Question...I got my order today. I got the 55w ballast and LEDs i ordered. I saw the bulbs you included and they are 35w. Can I use these 35w bulbs w/ my 55w ballasts? If I can, I'd like to send back these bulbs cuz I already have 2 pairs of bulbs that I can use. I assumed that I needed 55w bulbs for the 55w ballasts...

EDIT: The 35w bulbs works fine but I specified that I wanted 55w bulbs. Do you have 55w bulbs?

Then you need H7 bulbs and 9004 socket adapters from the 9004 wiring.
Though you could easily just cut the wires, splice together and use the H7 adapters.

I've repeatedly told our supplier to stop using the 35W labeling - all the bulbs we ship are 50W bulbs, we don't even order 35W bulbs on our order sheets. I'm sorry for the mislabeling, I'll fix that with our supplier again

Order placed today for the H7 kit. And at the expense of worrying about the 'plug-and-play' aspect of it all, I'll just take your advice and cut the wires, splice everything together, and use the H7 adapters.

Thanks again, man!! Can't wait to see 'em.

Gotcha. Well, thanks for the prompt shipping...regardless of the mislabeling, i'll remain a loyal customer.

Lucky I dont have a BMW...i could spend a whole paycheck on lighting upgrades alone!

Thanks a lot!

HID randomly turns off

I ordered a slim kit 35w for my bikes low beam, Since I put it on it randomly goes off and dosnt come back on, it seems only to happen after going on a longer ride then just around town or to the store. Any idea why it could be doing this, im going to recheck the wires but everything was nice and tight when I changed the mounting of the ballast to a more solid connection thinking that was the issue, but it still turns off and I have to stop the bike turn the key of and restart. I know it has a fail safe where it will turn off when something bad happens, but dont remember exactly.

I've followed this thread for a while and asked a few times but haven't really got a straight answer but are these completely plug and play? An earlier post says drilling is required and splicing and fitting... I want two sets of these one for the headlights and one for the fogs but the only thing holding me back is if I have to do custom install or pay someone to do these since I have no materials to work with... Are these fully plug and play for $50...

Asking once again, the 55w analog kit, does it have the slim ballasdts?
Also, do you have 6k for H3 setups in stock?
If so, Id like to order today.

55W analog ballasts are fat.
We have a 50W slim kit but it's $150 + shipping.
We have H3 6K in stock.

The HID are plug and play, but installation requires to drill a single hole in the back cap on some applications, not all. There is no need to pay someone to do it. This is no more difficult than a bulb swap in 90% of the cases.

That IS a problem. If you still have your original bulbs, it would be good if you did that and send the kit back to test both bulb and ballast.

no that is a slim experimental 35W ballast that never made it to production.

same thing is happening to me. The one on the right side is working fine, but the left side turned off recently, so i thought it was either a loose connection or the ballast or bulb burned out. I turned the bike off and back on, and the left lights are working again. Rode around again, and the left ones went off again. And i also bought the slim ballast also since they require less draw. I guess i'll switch bulbs and see if its the bulb or ballast.

Well, I got my kit two days ago (thanks for the fast response, as I wasn't expecting delivery until today). Now, since I've never had - nor seen in person up close - a HID kid, I was wondering about a thing or two.

The first thing I noted as I opened the packaging (which was excellently packed, btw), was that the plastic 'case' that covers one of the bulbs just fell off as I unwrapped the bubble wrap. At first, I thought that this was the way it was supposed to be, as - like I said earlier - I've never seen any kit at all except in pictures.

But upon closer inspection, it looks like the black base around the bulb itself was broken, and still attached to the clear plastic case. Also, it kinda looks like someone may have tried to repair this previously, as there was what appeared to be some kind of glue right where the break is. I've attached pictures, so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.

HID - yes, you heard right.-sony-354.jpg

HID - yes, you heard right.-sony-356.jpg

While I can probably fix it using some Gorilla Glue or Mighty Putty, I'm not sure if that would screw with a warranty if I have any future problems down the road.

Your thoughts on this...

If you want to use mighty putty, no problem! but if you want to send it back for replacement, also no problem.
That cracked in shipping, and even though you didn't get insurance on it, we'll replace it if you want anyways.

Well thanks for the quick response to that I do appreciate it but does the 01 headlights require drilling or is it just the foglights? My main concern was the headlights but if the stock 01 headlights need no drilling I would like to order some. And sorry to sound stupid but what do you mean by "back cap"?
