Big Brake Kit!! 4 Gen Max

I've posted all the information on the kit on the other site as its very difficult to get threw to the server on this site. But I thought since some of you are die hard old ORG memebers I'd post it here as well. So here's the deal, I had a big brake kit custom made (for my 4th Gen) as I said I would and we are now selling it. The kit is a Maxima specific kit for all 95-99 maximas and Infinity I30, no spacers or washers here fells, all the parts are designed to bolt right up to the OE locations. The kit is from Precision Brake company it consists of:
13" Crossdrilled and slotted rotors from Disc Brakes Australia
4 piston Wilwood Dynalite calpiers
Stainless Steel lines
Pads and all required mounting hardware
I also have a template for those who are interested and worried about it clearing your rims, you must have 17" or larger wheels to fit the kit since the rotor is 13". The kit will sell for $999 however they are offering an intro price for the next 30 days of just $849 and if we can get 5 people or more they will drop it down to $800 prices do not include shipping!
I have pics if someone would like to host them....for more information or pics email me or check the other forum.

Would this kit fit the 5th Gen? I understand that the 5th Gen rotors are a bit thicker than the rest.

Thanks!

.. I've been feverishly looking for a good deal on new brakes... I literally have no pad left on the rears, and the front rotors are warped to hell - I don't even want to move the car anymore so I'm driving the other max

If these fit 5th gens, I am 250% -in-.

This kit I have is for 4th gens. However if you can get enough people together (5 or so) I might be able to talk to the company that made mine and see if they'd make one for the 5th gen as well. See if you can get a group of people together and let me know. Email a list of people and I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. Turn arround time on the kit is about 8 weeks for the intial kit and development from that point forward it will be not problem to get them.

What about the rear brake? I was talking to Wildwood, and their R&D guy is suppose to be looking into it. I just don't want the fronts, I also want the rears.

Are you looking for stock sized rear rotors? Precision Brakes has slotted, cross drilled or combo of both for the rear, as well as the brake pads to match and their pricing is great.

I want the actual system for the rear. I know there's a kit for the front brakes, but can't find one for the rear. I want a new brake system all 4 wheels.

How many people are in? common guys? big brakes in the rear arent that effective over stock anyways. most is done by the fronts. do you know where i could find templates for the kit? dunno if my spokes will clear on my rims

thanks

I'm in also, but I want mine just sloted, not drilled. (I honestly don't like how it's drilled so close to the edge...the most frequent mode of failure is cracking close to the edge.)

to clear your PMs.. go to your profile.. somewhere in the options, it says "show threads from the last xxxx days." change the XXXX from 7 to forever or whatever the option is, and you will be able to see all your old PMs and delete/whatever with them.

As for this kit.. What kind of pads are you using? the ones in the pics look like the Q series.
I've got dynalites on my car, and so far, the Q series is the ONLY pad that has lasted longer than a month.
the C and D compounds perform better on hard driving, but they only last about 1000 miles- 1500 if you drive easy on 'em.
EBC reds fade horribly with anything more than 1 or 2 hard stops.
Hawk Blacks ate a set of skyline rotors in 1000 miles. the pads were half gone, and it ate 1/4" of metal off the rotors. $400 set of rotors and I had to throw them away.

But anyway.. I would only recommend the Q series pads for a "daily" application. purchase a set of C or D compound for auto X or track days and this kit will be everything you need for brakes on a Max. (even a SC'd Max)

The surface area of the Dynalites appear to be at least as much as the stock pads... You seem to be going through them very quickly. I have the Polymatrix D's and they need a little warm up but not much worse than the Stillen Metal Matrix (stock calipers). I would think they (the Polymatrix D) would warm up much faster with the Dynalites compared to my Superlites (larger surface area).

Do you know how much these rotors weigh? If you could compare it to the stock rotor weight that would be great!

The total weight of the kit was 44lbs. I can weigh each rotor if you'd like to get an extact number, I would guess about 15lbs each?
As for wheel size I posted this previously you must have at least a 17" rim and I have a template for spoke clearance verification.

44 lb's sounds pretty good. When you said the kit weighs 44 lb's does that include the brakes lines, brake pads (fluid?) and boxing material? I just want to figure out exactly how much of unsprung weight would be saved with this kit, thank you

Chunger, thanks a lot for the great pics

The 44lbs was the total shipping weight, includes the box, packing materal, rotors, lines, hardware, mounting braket, calipers (which are sooooo light) and brake pads. Tomorrow I'll weigh the rotors and get you the numbers. As for american or Candian currency that's something you need to speak with Matt at Precision Brakes about.

His kit might be different than our kit, I would call the guys at Precision Brakes and ask him before you order. Not that I don't want to sell them but I just want to ensure that they fit correctly and that your happy. If he says it will fit then please let me know so that I can post it up and offer it to the 3rd Gen peps!

This is a great deal everyone. Similar Stillen setup would run $1799. Jump on this while you can, but just make sure you have wheels to clear these.

DAMN! I gotta check out the GD forum more often! How many do you have in the GD already? At $800, I'd be interested.

I'm positive it will fit, and it if it doesn't I'll make it fit . This kit is almost $200 cheaper than the fastbrakes kit. I'm surprised not a lot of people are in this GB.

Wilwood Billet Dynalites are 2.5 lbs each without brackets... still light, though.

13.5lbs for a 13" one piece rotor??? Sounds too good to be true...

Maybe ye old bathroom scale was wrong?! But thoes are the numbers I got. They should be 1lbs+/-. Let me know if that kit fits the 3rd gens, it would be great if it did so then we could offer it to 3rd 4th and soon to be 5th gens. Keep me updated on the 3rd gen fit.

YOU STILL HAVE TIME

I just placed my order with Nigel at Precision Brake. He was really nice on the phone and was willing to answer all my questions without seeming bothered. I'm the third confirmed buyer on the GD so 2 more of us need to sack up and get in on this. They'll keep the GD open through mid-end of May so you still have time. Matt, the guy who originally set this up, is no longer with Precision Brake so just talk to Nigel and they'll be honoring the prior agreement.

Did he mention if they have recieved new calipers and rotors? I placed an order with Darryl 2 weeks ago. He mentioned they were getting a new shipment of cailpers and slotted rotors on wednesday and my order will be shipped on thursday.

As long as you have wheel clearance, the kit will fit 3rd gens as well as 4th.
the OEM front brakes are exactly the same on both cars. Pads, calipers, and rotors are all the same part # on aftermarket stuff. calipers are the same from Nissan part # lists, but the pads and rotors are listed different. why I can't tell you, but they're the exact same dimensions.

Comparing my Skyline rotors to Loren's complete Skyline setup on his 4th gen, the 3rd gens actually have more room than 4th. Loren had to trim part of his control arm to make the rotors fit. mine went on without a hitch.
