If I get banned for petitioning, at least I went down with a valiant fight worth fighting.

Good God, that was the reason he got banned? It is not Pmohr's fault OR the newbie's fault that the search system is faulty... I mean I've been on here for a few months and it still takes me a while to find a thread with information I can actually use.
Well, anyways... this ban is ridiculous, Pmohr is the glue holding the 4th Gen section together in my opinion, without him there will be DIRE consequences with people following the solutions given by people who aren't as experienced as Pmohr which could lead to injuries, damage, or even DEATH

What a god damned shame. I think a lot of the problems on this site are due to a horrible search system, old thread links that don't work, and a tremendous amount of old, outdated stickies.
The threads are there, you just have to really know what you are doing and know the .org to find them.
I can definitely see both sides of the issue. Getting rid of one the best resources maxima.org has because he lost his temper once isn't the solution. Cleaning up some of the **** and configuring the search function properly is the solution.
I know from dealing with other Vbulletin forum systems, there are many ways to configure every aspect about how the forum runs in the admin control panel. I know something is horribly off with our search function. Sorting by relevancy is not default, and it has to be, because if you don't sort by relevancy, the search will show results that are 0 percent relevant. There has to be some variable somewhere that configures the default relevancy cut off point, even if sorted by date instead of relevancy. Not a single other vbulletin forum I am part of has a search function as poorly configured as this website.
Not to mention we have an absolute mess of outdated stickies with broken links. A lot of it has to be restructured and consolidated.
Unban pmohr and I will volunteer to help reorganize the stickies and make things easier to find and newbie friendly.

Well, his post
was
harsh. IMO, he should get banned, but only temporarily. As much as he helps the 4th gen forum, he really needs to take a chill pill with the n00bs and leave the moderating to the mods. It doesn't hurt THAT much to see a repeat thread...IMO, the mods need to step it up in this section and lock/delete the stupid threads so Pmohr doesn't have the same response in every thread.
It looks as if his permaban was lifted, but is still temp banned

He shouldn't have been banned for that, every answer to the questions the dude was asking could have been easily found if searched for, I found them. Not only that its not like he just told him to search, he actually gave him the answers to his questions as well!

Honestly that guy who posted should of been banned along time ago.... That guys has had 3 threads that have been locked due to newbieness. And pmohr finally got fed' up and went off on him.
I belive that the mod said he would be back thoguh. Im not to worried im sure he will be back. He is to valuable just to ban for life over a newb

I think paul is a good asset to the group. He has good info just believes in using the search feature. I agree with modena1 that the search is not the best but it does work. The mods need to make it better and clean up the site. Just my .02 cents.

Let's not let this get lost:
PETITION TO LIFT BAN:
http://forums.maxima.org/feedback-su...lete-ever.html
Thanks to
tyler5619
for this.
Ok good, it seems that the moderator are seeing the light of the day. Even the moderators are starting to argue the issue, too bad they keep locking up threads, so us commoners can't put their two cent in to the mix.
Let's keep up the fight, God only know that that pmohr can't get on here to even defend himselves.
