i30 likes vs. maxima likes...(and dislikes)

What do you like better about your i30 than you do about a Maxima...

What do you like less about your i30 than you do about a Maxima?

I ask because I really like the styling of the i30, but there are some things I like better on a Maxima.

I like the clear corners on the Maxima better
I like the fogs on the i30 better
I like the grill of the i30 better
I like the backend of the Maxima better
I like the front end of the i30 better
I like the ac vent placement of the i30 better
I like the wheels on the SE maxima better

Anybody feel free to agree or disagree!

Because I bought mine out of warranty, I have never had it into an infiniti dealer for any kind of service. However, I have called an Infinity dealer parts department and they were VERY nice and accomodating, unlike many other dealers I have seen....

So, what else?

The ability to outrun the local officers! hehe just kidding!

I do think the 4-gen I-30s like the one you have has a much better looking front end. I also like the more one piece rear end(reminds me of the VE 3-gens)

I mean, that dude from Hawaii w/ the white I30 w/ the 18-19s and kit. That has to be one of the best looking maximas period.

I love the front of the I30, especially with cefiro headlights
I like the backseat headrests
I like the leather, moonroof, and wood
I dont like the 96-97 stock rims
I dont like that we dont have any bolt on US bodykits
I dont like the rear end, I love the 97-99 maxima rear

Front end -I30
Rear end -Max
interior -of course I30
VSLD -well you know
Wheels -(besides the touring wheels on the 96 I30) Max

The rear floor mat in the I30 and extra sound deadening material are nice.

Dude, your car IS the best of both worlds, Cefiro front with a Maxima (sort of) back end....your custom work on the rear is awesome as well.

You are a pioneer in the Cefiro/Maxima conversions!

Maxima - lighter, faster, sportier (manual trannys)

I3x - Cleaner looking, more luxury, (more weight from sound dampening) better service, but more expensive

oh yeah, and the 00-01 have 5 more HP than the respective Maximas

I want to respond to the comment on the maxima's being lighter and faster... Riiiiiiiight. The I30 weighs in under 200lbs heavier. That is a weight on a CAT scale between a I30t Manual and Maxima SE with meridian edition toys. Being faster? what factual basis are you using? None can be proven. They Dyno roughly the same.

I like the heated mirrors and auto dimming rear view.
I also dislike the standard black guage faces on the Touring, I think they could've been a little more creative with that.
I like the symbol on the vanity plate attached to the valve cover.
I do like the Touring rims on the 96-97. I wish they were 16's or larger but I love the look of BBS rims. The turbine rims on the standard models are just way to plain.

My biggest complaint about infiniti is all the rims are hand-me-downs from the Q45.

They are light too. I sold my 15" touring BBS wheels, When i shipped them they weighed in at 16lbs. I wish I would have kept them for the track.

As far as the weight differences betweeen the I30 and Max, was that your car that was weighed? At http://www.nissannews.com/?http://ni...30/specs.shtml They give the I30t a weight of 3147lbs. Do you think that is pretty close? I always thought it was a little heavier than that.

you guys share my opinion as well.
I like the I30 front end, but hate the rear.
Prefer the max buttox!
Although the I30 is made for lux, I think I might like the max interior better. The I30 interior seems borderline cheap, like the cheapo digital clock. why couldn't they put in a classy analog clock like all the other Infiniti's?

I based the comparison of 2 cars on a scale on the same day both with full tanks of gas. The I30 began production when that analog clock wasn't really liked. As you have seen the body didn't change till 2000 and the analog clock was brought back into the interior. I do disagree with your comments about the I30 interior, I think its nicer than the maxima but I think as far as luxury interiors are concearned its far from S600 NICE, but then again its an entry level Luxury car.

Ok so im missing something. You said they dyno the same. You also admitted that the I30 weighs in at 200 pounds heavier. So due to the laws of physics, that would make the Maxima slightly quicker. (given that all conditions are right. 200 pounds is like having an extra person in the car. Dude I love my Infiniti, but facts are facts

Edit: I have a 01, so I am talking about 00-01 I30's compared to its respective Maxima's.

at the risk of sounding nit-picky, he's got 20s. I only say that because I always post pics of his car when people start knocking 20s.

and that is definitely the best looking 4th gen.

Those Signature body kits for the Gen 4/5 I30/I35 make the whole car look 100 times better than any Maxima. Signature is only available in Japan?

Honestly, I'd probably take a 98 i30t 5 speed.. silver on black, white on black or black on black over any 4th gen maxima.. except a loaded white on black 99 SE-L 5 speed..

The i30 does look more upscale despite being almost the same car. I am not used to the angular dashboard design but it's not bad. My friend has a 97 i30 with 130k miles it drives like new, i definately like the extra features the car has..

also like nismo2020 said, maximas are dime a dozen.. nothing special.. i30s are definately more rare around here.. especially a 5 speed!

I e-mailed the guy about it. His mistake. It's an auto.

That PIC of the I30 dash is interesting b/c it shows the slightly different dash shape. The hazard and defogger buttons are on a separate piece from the climate control and radio. The Maxima setup looks better. I would have thought it should be the other way around

i like the fact that you can get a loaner car with the exactly same scheduled services with an I30 better than a Maxima.
