I30 >< G35 wheels?

Finally found an I30 board. Question. I have a 99 I30 and amd looking to upgrade the wheels/tires. I don't want too much bling bling so 19' chrome is basically out of the question, however, I have come across a set of wheels/tires from a brand new G35. 17 inch with 235-50-17 front and 225-50-17 rear. Look real tight and I love how it keeps the infiniti logo on the center cap. Question is...
Will they fit? I assume the lag pattern is the same but thing may have changed with the new Infinti lines. Also, does anyone know the default wheel offset for the stock I30 wheels? And what it would be with the new G35 wheels?

Also my next project will be to lower the car a tad. Fender gap is extreme though Im sure everyone here has b!tched about the same thing. Can anyone lead me in the right direction? I was hoping to go down an inch to an inch and a half. Eibach seems to be the most recognizable spring setup ive seen on the net but I know theres others. I'm on a budget too so the cheaper the better.
Ugh, too many questions..

1) Would I loose a horrible amount of ride quality by lowering it?
2) IF I were to only get springs first I know i'll run into problems with abnormal tire wear. What do I need to get to fix this?

3) How cheap can I make this whole process without buying from a swapmeet?

Thanks guys

what you want are rims that have a 5x114.3 LUG PATTERN. Also, as for lowering your car...to maintain near stock ride quality...you'd want H&R springs or B&G springs. Do a search on this board...Maxima parts are compatible with I30s. They are essentially the same car. Good luck and welcome...

The stock offset is 45mm. You want either 35-40mm with the new wheels. The tire size on the G35 will cause your speedo to be off a little. In order to stay with the same diameter on 17" wheels you will need 235/45 R17 or 225/50 R17. This will keep the diameter close enough to stock so your speedo will be acurate.
I don't know the stock off set of the G35 wheel, but I think it was listed in a previous thread. Do a search.

As far as springs, I have Eibach. They gave me a little less than 1.5" drop. The ride is not bad at all. A little stiff but nothing terrible.
Lowering springs will not cause abnornal tire wear. As long as you stay less than 2" you will be fine. Usually more than 2" requires adjustable camber which we do not have. Do get an alignment after lowering, it may cause your alignment to be out of spec.
Of course the best thing is to replce the struts at the same time, but it is not necessary. The stock struts cannot handle the compression rate, and will blow fairly soon. Doing both springs and struts will also save on labor.
If your on a budget then try and buy used. Any spring/strut for the 4th gen maxima will fit your car. Check the 4th gen classified forum. I got my Eibach/Tokico set up used for less than $200 installed

Below is a pic of my drop on Eibachs.

There are several springs that offer a compliant ride, not just H&R and B&G... How about Progress, or Maxspeed? The Maxspeed springs are CHEAP~ $100, and ride quality is great! Drop isn't huge but enough to look better.

Welcome to the board. You sound intelligent and mature, a fading attribute on the .org for sure. Try the FAQ in this forum and the 4th GEN forum. As was correctly stated above, the i30 and Maxima share underpinnings, with a few small differences. You would do well to read the FAQ on suspension setups and choices in the 4th gen forum, it is invaluable. When you are done with that, if you still have questions, hollar at us. The search function is great as well, but sometimes can be overwhelming due to the sheer volume of threads to search through.

Have fun, and enjoy your "i."

BTW, I am progress springs cut one coil, they look great but it is really low.

One more thing about the wheels, if the diameter of the g35 wheel is shorter than that of the i30, your speedo will read faster than you are going, like Mike said, but it should be really minimal. My Expedition has 35s, 5 inches taller than stock. It is 13mph off at 60! At 60 with a g35 wheel and tire you *MAY* be showing about 62-64, not too bad really. I personally think that wheel and tire choice would be fabulous, there is a member of the .org that sells them all the time, with tires. His name is Sweetsound2001 I think. Try the for sale forum.

If I were buying OEM take offs for mine, I would get the 18" Q45 wheels in gunmetal!! A little spendy, but WOW!

Thanks for the welcome and all the advice. Didn't realize the board even had a search function or that I'd learn more about my car in one day than I have since the moment I bought it.

Took your advice and did stumble across older threads on the maxima board which gave complete breakdown of suspension products, price and quality. Being that Maxspeed springs are only 100 bucks, at this point I think I'll go with them. Only reason I could find as to why they're so cheap (Normally you pay for what you get, right?) is because it's a newer brand and you're not paying an extra 100+ just for a name like "Eibach". Unless I come across another used set with struts for 200 bucks installed.

I'm not too worried about the slight differences in speedo readings. I used to have a jeep with 36in super swampers so at higher speeds I'd see 20 mph differences between actual and speedo readings. Tire info will come in handy though.

Again, thanks for the advice.

I am glad that you were succesful in using the search function! There has been much talk about enlarging and relocating that button, sometimes I even have a hard time remembering where it is! This board is a fabulous research, using that search button you can literally have YEARS of info at the tip of your finger. Did you try the FAQ threads? The good thing about the FAQ threads is that they are usually put together by people whe REALLY know what is going on, and what kind of info is helpful. The FAQ threads can be miles long though, too.

I think your decision to go with Maxspeeds is a good one. Very few complaints, and MANY members are using them. Have fun and post up pictures of your car! Put it in your signature for all to see!
