MAF sensor issues and engine mods?

Hey, Im just curious, because i have been mechanically stock since i blew up my MAF sensor after I added an intake, does anyone here have engine work without MAF or other computer related probems?? Do i have to wait for someone to make an ECU for my car before I can mod the engine? And is there any way to mod our cars without having the ECU shut us down?

A little confused by what you said. You mean "mod the engine" like cams, pistons, injectors, rods, and such....?
What do you mean by the ECU shut us down?

Well, i dont think what im talking about effects you as much as the newer i's/max's. For example, when intakes were finally made for our cars, a few months after install people (ALOT of people, including myself) were complaining about blown MAF sensors because of the filters/intakes. I was wondering if anything has changed since, cause i would like to do the basic intake, headers, and downpipe/exhaust system.
