Top speed on 4th gen I30?

Top speed on 4th gen I30?
Has anyone taken their I30 to the limit? Do we have speed limiter in our ecu? I was doing some spirited driving the other night and got it up to 135 before I slowed down--I never hit a limiter---I thought we had one at 120?

??????? 96-99 I30 and I30t have a top speed of 127m/t and 123a/t. You can get this info from either edmunds.com or Infiniti USA

Your right the i30t top speed is 139m/t and 135a/t. The other info is correct for the standard I30.

Sorry but this is not true go to www.nissannews.com and look at the specs for the I30t. It tops out at 139 w/ 5speed. Maybe you have upgraded your ecm or cut that wire?

If anything that should be backwards because the Touring model being heavier. There is no ECU difference between the T models and the Standard models, just for the 5 spds and the automatics. So that doesn't make sense that they ECU would geovern the standard model to 136 and 139 to the Touring. I assume that like most magazines and sources that they report what their experience with the car was, it doesn't make the information gospel truth. I also want to ask you when you last got 26mpg in your 5spd. Its on that webpage, it must be the truth.

First of all for the sake of argument this information is directly from nissan. Secondly the I30t has upgraded suspension which would make it capable of handling higher speeds. The I30t is also the sport version that is why Nissan decided to give it a higher top speed. As far as the weight difference, the I30 is slightly faster than the I30t in 0-60 and 1/4 mile. However this has nothing to do with the top speed.

????????This is irrelevant. What does maima performance parts have to do with top speed? Please try to stick to the subject. Before I bought my I30 I had a 93 integra 2dr. When I would drive the car past 110mph sothe car would shake viscously. Anyways believe what you want. I never drove past 120mph before the ecu upgrade so I don't know first hand what the stock top speed is, but I would rather take the word of the company(nissan) who made the car over yours. To each his own.

I had to do a video recently where I needed to get a speedo at high speed. I jacked up the front end, cranked it, put it in drive and tapped the gas. With no problems observed, I tapped it again and held it for a bit. It went to 140 and held there for a little while after I let off. Car: 1997 I-30t, no mods 94K miles.
Video: priceless
I've also had it on the ground doing 120. Felt good but ran out of real estate and backed down.

Let me say this without offending anyone....
That has to be the worst thing you could do to your tires. PLEASE tell me you are not serious. You know you have steel belts in your tires.... You know what centrifical force is... You NOW know that you could've destroyed your tires. I hope you get the longevity and control that you were hoping to get out of those tires. I dont know if I would be taking any fast turns in that car with those tires.

No offense taken & appreciate the concern. I'm not sure I follow though... The wheels were off the ground, taken to speed and then back to 0 again. No problems since and I still drive the **** out of it pretty much full time.
I don't have a need to do it again anytime soon but to prevent someone else from testing out the needle stopper on their speedo, can you explain?

O.K. I don`t know if somebody is still interested, but my best run was 260km/h
that means 161.5561 mph with my `95 Nissan Maxima european model on the autobahn here in good old germany. By the way, my car is in stock and it was no problem to handle the car. And a friend of mine has a Nissan Primera with an 1.6l 4 cyl. ga16ds engine with 90hp. His maxspeed was ( out of gauge) 240km/h that means 149.13mph at 6200rpm.
So, a BMW 540 or Mercedes S-class is no problem because german cars are limited at 250 km/h. I love these japanese cars.
Drive as fast as you can, the limit is the car not the police.
I hope the conversion was right, i think so.

There is no way the car has the power or the aerodynamics to do that with that set up.

I took my third gen max se to 140 the other day. It was still climbing, but I had to slow down. (stupid traffic lights) Anyway, if my tired old 3rd gen can do 140 without the pedal mashed I believe 160 is doable. With a good tail wind.....who knows what is possible!
