I love Infiniti Service :-)

I wanted to post this in the 5th gen max section, but I figured that would be bragging just a little TOO much

I took my car in today for what I thought to be warped rotors and a cracked sunroof wind deflector.

Start what I love about Infiniti: They didn't gripe about either of those things that I complained about. Offered me a loaner for the whole day, even gave me a G35 when I asked for it, no questions asked.

When I come back later that day to pick it up, I find they resurfaced all 4 rotors, put a new sunroof deflector that was much thicker plastic (the old one only had like 2 2cm cracks in it!), and cleaned the interior and washed the outside - complete with wheel cleaning and tire dressing.

After reading all the horror stories with dealers in the 5th gen section, especially regarding brakes, I was very pleased to have no hassle whatsoever when getting this service done.

I also appreciate the fact that they don't treat me any different because of my age. I think I'll be buying Infinitis for a very long time to come.

I gotta say that I totally agree. I never had any trouble with the infiniti dealer I went to, and I needed major work too (my MAF sensor blew when i added an intake). They completed the job for free, cleaned the car, and had me in a loaner I30 for the weekend.

Now, I can contrast their service to that of a certain Mercedes-Benz dealer in NYC. First off, they didnt take me seriously because of my age. I had brought my dad's ML430 in for brake service (the truck had 15K on it, and the brakes were squealing). I did not tell them it was my dad's, because I feared I would recieve even worse treatment than if they had believed it was my car. Not only did they ignore me, they kept me waiting for over 6 hours, promising "it will be done within the next half hour". Then, they were apprehensive to doing the service for free. There is no reason that you should spend high 40's on a vehicle, and have to deal with such terrible service. I was very unimpressed overall with the experience i had there, though in the end they did absorb the costs of the brake service.

Good to know, I want to buy a G35 next year but did not want to go through the hassles I hear so many Maxima owners complain about.

i wont disagree, but i will say that the service you receive is not characteristic of the nameplate. I mean, there ARE general differences between Nissan and Infniti service, but, you must compare luxury nameplate service as separate from non-luxury stuff.

with that out of the way, the MB dealer could have very well been an Infiniti dealer and have provided the same low-level of service. The Infiniti dealer near me is completely horrible. The service is completely useless...claiming they change simple things such as the fuel filter after paying over 300 bucks for a major service interval and they dont even change it, failing to wash the car, and when doing so, leaving careless scratches. Also, i have brought in warranty issues and they try and "persuade" me that there is no problem when there clearly is one. I took my car to a distant dealer in the next town (an hour away) and the service was MUCH better there...would replace and fix things without arguing and persuasions. The car was washed, and I was even provided with a loaner (original dealer never provided one even though they are supposed to! would instead drop me off to my house, leaving me to make my own arrangements to come pick the car up). My ultimate point once again is that our MB dealer here could be providing exceptional service, and had he instead chose to own the Infiniti franchise, he would be providing that same level of service.

I just sent a copy of this thread to my dealer and he was very happy to see this. He sent it to his boss and to the Regional Manager. All were pleased.
