just got an I30!!! but......
but....its got a hell of a lot of problems!! I bought a 1996 I30 5 speed with 109 k miles....let me list the problems...
1. leaking tranny
2. noise and excessive play in the timing chain case? Possible loose tensioners?
3. welded exhaust
4. broken fog light
5. headliner starting to sag in back
6. passenger visor broken
7. excessive vibration in the steering wheel
8. check engine light is on
I bought it for 3500 dollars so I figure after I fix everything thats wrong with it, it will have cost me 5500-6000k, which is about what it worth anyway. Anyway, any suggestions on the tranny leak and the excessive play int he timing chain case? How about how to fix the headliner? And what could be causing the excessive vibration? I did notice some unusual wear on the passenger side front tire....the back of the tire tread, behind the wheel well, is very worn. do I just need an alignment, or could it be something more serious? Help would be appreciated!

Find out where the tranny is leaking from
Pull your CEL codes
Visit a junk yard or dealership for the visor and foglight
Get tires aligned and balanced
Find a good how to for headliner replacement

yeah...just some help if you're not familiar on how to pull your codes...visit here http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html and you can do it yourself in about 5 minutes...saves you that ~$60 diagnostic fee you'd pay elsewhere
