Just bought my new rims! Speedo off???

Just bought these rims for $1000 shipped!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2427581493

The tire size is 245/35/19. Tire rack recommends 235. How much will my speedo be off? Will it register too fast or too slow? I'll post a few pics once I get these on my car.

Nice job! I was just about to go to the miata site to look it up for him when I saw you're post! Doh.

In any case, I think your speedo will be slightly off. The best size would be 235/35/19. However, I think you could live with it for awhile, and when you find a deal on 235/35/19's you could buy just two of them and put them on the front until you need rears. I think the fronts are the only ones that can affect your speedo, the back just follow the fronts.

Thanks for the info guys, it says my speedo will be 1% too slow. When I'm going 60 I should actually be going 60.6. Not too bad I can live with it until I need new tires.

thats nothing man, you are A-OK. I think I remember reading that a 3% variance is acceptable. If you take tread wear and tire pressure into account, it's never an "exact" thing. Nice find on the rims by the way, you got a great deal! Post some pics of them on your car!

I don't think it'a good idea to run two different size tires, at least not two different size diameter tires.

that's right. a maxima/i30 is not built to have different size tires front/rear. and you should keep your 245 dunlops on there. you have an 8.5 inch wide rim. size 235 would be a better fit on a 8 inch wide rim so the tires sticks out a little bit to protect better in case you hit a curb. but with an 8.5 inch wide rim, if you put 235 wide tires on there the rim will stick out and not only it will not look good but if you ever hit a curb you'll ruin your wheels. that's rice style right there. i saw a guy driving a rice around with 18x8 rims and 215/35/18 tires on there. it was such a wide rim for those tires that the tires were stretched out that all you could see was rim, which is what he wanted but you should have seen it, if you saw a profile view of the rim there was a half inch of the rim sticking out and it looked horrible. if he ever hit a curb those rims would be ruined instantly. so think about that. i would keep the 245s you got with the rims. won't affect the speedo much at all
