i think this i30 i am looking at has tranny problems

i am looking at a silver 2000 i30t with 76k miles for $14,000. the outside is perfect, inside is kinda dirty and one of the rear speakers or amps is blown.

the car seems to slip from 1-2 and or 2-3 upshifts. anyone experience this, know what it is, how muchs it is to fix. should i buy this car?

thanks,
brendan

Re: i think this i30 i am looking at has tranny problems

I would look for another one. With the problem you descibed and the inside being dirty, I imagine the owner didn't really take too much care of the car. The transmission is a weak spot for our cars so I would definately stay away. Be patient, its a lot of money and our cars are not high in demand. Once you find a nice one you should be able to talk someone down a bit.

If you have any inclination the car has a tranny problem, even a hunch, I would walk away from it. You can always find another one.

Yes, please walk away. I though my car had bad bearings before I bought it, but my mechanic said it didn't. Since this was my first stick car, I believed him. A few months later BOOM tranny failed, and all the bearings were bad according to the person fixing it. Walk.
