2" DROP Sprint Sprinngs
2" DROP Sprint Sprinngs
I wanted to know if any of you guys got the Sprint Springs with the 2" drop, if so how is the ride and do you have to get a camber kit. I have 18" rims and I want to get the sprints and the Tokico shocks, so I wanna know how it will turn out.
i had them on and took them off. the rear gets too low, you cant have people in the back, but that was with 19's not sure with 18's, the ride wasnt that great either i think you would need to buy new shocks with those as well, it looked good though
harsh ride and you may hit the bump stops a lot, but it will look good. What tokicos were you going to go with? The HP(blues) won't hold up to a 2" drop. They did not even hold up to my 1.5" drop, I just had to buy new shocks and struts. Tokico illuminas are the ones you want.

You will most likely need a camber kit, but some get by without one.

I have heard that Eibach makes a great kit and it wont lower your car quite as much. I have not heard coments from anyone who uses them, but Im sure they make a kit for the I30.
As for the struts I used Koni Adjustables when I lowered my SAAB and they were great. The Konis are only an insert though, so the instal requires some modification with the original strut housing, but its not difficult.
Pearly,
I was wondering how the ride changes with just the switch to the 18"s. Does the ride get a lot more harsh?

progress would be a good choice, H&R or eibach would be good as well. What do you reall want? Sprints or Tien will give you a killer look with the body kit but you will have to be real careful with potholes, steep driveways and speed bumps.
I am on Eibachs, see my sig for an example.

See I do not really have to have the smoothes ride, if worst comes to worst then I will just get smoother springs down the road. I just want the gap between my fender and 18" rim to be as small as possible, but because Im getting Maxmojos body kit, it cant be that low. Basically I need to know who has the next lowest thing besides sprint and tein because im not sure 2" will work, but maybe something close to that.

I30Mike,
How is your ride with the Eibach Kit?
I have a 2K I30, not the T, and the ride is comfotable, but I find it a little bouncy. My other car is a SAAB 9000 with a 1.5" drop, So I like the car to be taut but I don't want it to beat me to death on bumpy roads either.
What are your feelings on the Eibach kit? I am convinced on the looks, your car is sweet.

The ride is stiff for sure. My tokico HP struts are really worn out and need replacing so I can't give you a good review right now. The struts have been bad for so long I can't remeber what the set up felt like in the past. I got some new KYB Gr-2's in my garage right now waiting to be installed, but that won't be until the weather warms up which could be a while.
Honestly I am getting a little sick of the bumpy ride and I might change to a softer spring. First I will put the new stuts in and see if things are better, if not I may go for some H&R's or progress. But when I first got the Eibachs I don't remember the ride being so bad so it may just be the struts.
As far as performance the Eibachs are great.
My plan was to wait until my warranty ran out to do any suspension mods (except maybe some wheels), so I guess I can wait until you instal your new struts for the verdict on the Eibachs.
I cant believe your srtuts wore out that quickly. Does that mean you wouldent recomend the Tokicos?
Anyhoo, Let me know how the install works out for you.

Well, the tok HP's really are not meant to be paired with lowering springs. They are about 4 years old with over 50k miles, but no I would not recomend the tokico HP's.

I have the Sprint and AGX combo for about 8k miles now. I had one coil off the rear springs because the gap (with an auto) is fuggly. I couldn't stand looking at it for more than 1k miles with the rear gap. the ride was actually slightly better before I had the coils cut. if you decided to cut the rear coil, DON'T cut more than 1 coil or you will not be able to secure the spring on shocks. ride can get bumpy on broken roads even on stock 15". I've driven through the bronx and brooklyn so I can say this setup is NOT for that type of road conditions. I live in Philly so it's not that bad. I personally prefer the drop and look over the quality of HRs. I don't really scrape except the stock cat because it hangs so low... give or take 2" ground clearance. you'll turn like you're on rails but car can bounce around if the turns are bumpy.
good luck with your setup..
