Slip light in snow, but what is i30 doing?

I was driving in the snow and I noticed my slip light come on as the car was getting wobbly. Granted it is dangerous out, but just what is my i30 doing when this light comes on? if I didnt have this on my i30, what would the car do?

Yeah, they say, "SLIP" on the dashboard when your tires slip. It was engaging the traction control system to stabilize your car.

yes but jus what is happening? What is really going on? i feel a little safe because I know it has something to do with making sure your car doesnt go out of control, but I was just wondering what is happing to my car when this feature kicks in the snow?

Never sat inside a 2K+ I30. So it's traction control, which basically just takes power away from the wheels. Like starting out in 2nd gear in a 5spd

I believe the 2k just has TCS, but the '02+ has VDS, a completely different system.

Would you care to inform me of how VDS works. My knowledge of 2k+ I30/35 is lacking.
