2003 I35 clock is too dim
My dad has a 2003 I35 and he hates the clock because he can't see it at night. Is there any way to put an older I35 analog clock in? I understand they were brighter in the past. Or maybe put a brighter bulb in it? Any help would be appreciated.

There's a dimmer switch on the gauge cluster (I think it's to the left), you can increase the brightness of the clock (and all the instrumentation for that matter).
Of course...it does make the gauges brighter, which can be a real pain at night..

Yeah, he knows about that and it's all the way up, but he still can't se it. On 2003's its REALLY dim. Apparently people complained that it was too bright in previous models. Now, I don't know if that means 2002's or 2001's.

even you turn the brightness all the way at night...
the clock is still dim.... i have taken the unit aprat but the bulb they use for it is really unique bulb and i don't think you will be able to find the same type of bulb that is brighter.....
if you do let me know...

He brought the car in because he thought the bulbs were burnt out. That didn't work. Then they replaced the entire clock. That didn't work either.
Good info, ][ 35- I was wondering if I could find a hyper white ricer bulb that would fit, but I guess that is out of the question..

Guess what!
I just got my clock replaced with a new clock that comes in the 2004 I35 and it is different. They know that the old clocks are virtually unreadable at night so they silently changed it for 2004.
The new clock seems brighter but I cannot be certain since i could not have them both and compare them at night. Maybe it just seems brighter because it's new.
What they obviously changed is the hands. They are now thicker and bolder and it make a huge difference. The original hands were paper clip wire thin and barely visible but now they are thick. It looks really good. I will try and post a pic.
All I did was look at a new I35 while mine was being serviced and I noticed the clock right away. I immediatly went to the service guy who I had complained to before about the clock asked him if there was any way I could trade my invisible clock for the new 2004 legible clock and he said sure.
Originally he was going to charge me the $10 difference in price between the 2002 and 2004 but then he jsut said don't worry about it.
So guy's if the clock really bothers you like it did me, go complain. And if they tell you that there is no updated clock, simply go to the lot and prove them wrong.
