Sony Mex-5DI reciever (clean as H**l), all replaced interior speaks w/ 6.5" alpine type-R speaks. 2 12" alpine type-R subs w/ an alpine MRD-M300 amp goin to each one (600W to each of alpine quality). And a 360W 4-channel alpine amp goin to the mids/highs. All monster cable wiring w/ a 1-farad monster cable capacitor. It rocks out.

I have a JBL 1200.1 amp hooked to a Resonant Engineering 12" HC sub (with the gain almost all the way up!) and a JBL 180.2 hooked to a pair of Focal 165K2s. I also have an Alpine fold out 6.5" screen with a PS2. I have run my car with the system at loud (not full blast) level while playing the PS2 for over 2 hours and my car started without a problem. I have a Optima Yellow Top and a 1 farad capacitor to help out with the electrical.

The cheapest power upgrade for our cars is probably to install bigger ground wires. I haven't dones this myself, but I've seen a bunch of people who have and I can't remember someone who's tried it saying that it didn't help. The best upgrade is probably the Optima battery. With a stock battery I was having heavy dimming with my system on and the battery would drain real fast. After the Optima install, my lights only dim when I have my system on full blast and I can run it for as long as I need to without needing a jump.

I don't think you need to upgrade your alternator (at least as your first upgrade) since our cars come with pretty large alternators. I would go for the ground wires and a better battery like a Yellow Top and I'm sure you won't have any problems.

What kind of problems are you having exactly? Honestly you aren't running a huge system so you shouldn't have too many electrical problems. You are having problems while your car is running? The only problem I ever had while my car was running was the dimming of the headlights. I easily fixed that by upgrading my battery. On top of that, I'm running almost 1500 watts with my amps. How powerful is your amp(s)? The cathodes shouldn't take up a ton of power, right? I think you first need to describe the electrical problems that you are having in detail and then you'll get some better advice.
