Comparison....need some help....
Comparison....need some help....
Alright, first of all I'd like to say this is one of the best sites for maxima/infiniti information around and it is well organized
But I have been set with a descion, and I know I'll be getting biased opinions here but I wanna see how you would compare these cars I am getting, I have to pick between the 2, I have gone to edmunds.com and done some comparisons, but you all own an Infiniti and know how it drives and performs....
1997-Infiniti I30 with 98k
or
1995-Lexus GS-300 with around 100k
which is better with, performace, handling, realibilty, matience costs etc.
this would be a great help if you could let me know people

well the I30's got alot of adventages in handling, performance and comfort all around..
the GS is a rear wheel drive car and if you are not a very experienced driver you will get anoyed of getting stuck in snow ...
GS is Nothig but lack of performance the vihicle is to heavy for the motor size it has...
suggest to go with an I30 ...
Lots of mods available for this car...
good luck choosing your automobile

Thanks for the info
I have decided to get an I30, Lexus' cost alot to maintain plus they are boring at times the I30 offers as much and more than the lex and the maintence costs would kill me for a GS, does anyone know how much basic matinence costs to own an I30?

well not bad at all. pending on what kiunda individual trouble u encounter its not bad. spark plus get the platinum ones, um medium grade gas or high grade, pending on the climate ur in, my muffler is starting to go, its the nj weather, starting to rust, chnage the oil, the car holds up pretty well, and the parts arent too expensive when just keeping up maintenance. brake pads and rotors should be checked thats a def, have it checked for leaky hoses, things like that. remeber infiniti is nissan, and the I30 is basically for lack of better words a glorified maxima. so the parts under the hood and on the interior are universal. thats omething to keep in mind when modding your car. hoped this helped and welcome to the org

On yours...
- If it has not already been done, the starter will probably go out.
- The oil changes are a snap. I use Mobil 1. I'm not sure about Fram filters anymore though. I've seen stuff I don't like recently on the last few I got new.
- In S. Pines you'll have little reason to worry about snow but below freezing, I still give it time to warm up unitl I see the temp needle move to the bottom of the cold range.
- I get 24mpg in town (driving it hard) and 28-31 on the highway (at 60-75 continuous)
- It just turned 100K and have no worries and have had 0 trouble with it.
- It may feel loose in handling in turns, feeling like to "rolls" over too much. I added a front strut tower brace and it seemed to improve it. There are very cheap ones and expensive ojnes out there. I got a cheap one off E-bay and as I said "it seemed to imporve it" I do wonder though how much better a good brand would cost. Installation took about 15 mins and it required the most basic of tools and brains of a fruit fly to do. ( I barely make that cut.)
- No rust (I'm in Raleigh) but I do flush out the undersides often.
- The #2 on my Stereo is loose and I've tried to fix it but have not put much time into really fixing it.
- Paint is in good shape and the local Infiniti dealer has touch up paint that you'll want. Don't get another brand.
- Clean the leather seats often with a good leather cleaner. They'll stand up to 10 more years if you do.
- My stering wheel leather is starting to show some age and I'm note sure what I'll do just yet. Let me know if you figure out something.
Teh car will do 120 and still feel solid and still accelerate but I have the rear spoiler also. I don't reccomend doing these speeds unless the cops are behind you...
- Be sure to check out your spare tire and jack equipment.
- I have cleaned the engine bay with engine cleaner with no issues. It needs another cleaning now. Make sure the air filter box is in place (or the intake is covered) and just follow the directions on the can
- I use the dealership for major service. They give me a loaner for the day when I ask and clean it for me too. Normally, I pick and choose off the list of stuff on the major service interval. I do have them do a total flush on the tranny every time it is called for.
- My gas pedal was sticking when it first presses down but a clean-out process the dealership uses on the air intake and valve train fixed that right up... I recommend it if your throttle is sticking and you don't want to tear it apart.
Congrats and welcome....!
