88 Octane

I choose to use 93 because I want to get all the performance out of my car possible and I also run the JWT ECU which really needs the higher octane. That is just me.
It won't "hurt" to use the lower octane and I am sure most I30/35 and maxima owners use 89 octane. But if you want the most out of your VQ the higher is the best choice.

Yeah we all know the prices are crazy but you know what
fill it up with some of that good stuff. and you will (SHIFT_to the next level)

you will notice the difference and so will your car.
Do your VQ a favor high octane it

good luck

Now if I go to Flagstaff (7200') in the middle of the summer I will put 91 octance in for that run, otherwise I won't.
Just put a tankful of 89 in there - it isn't going to melt your engine. If you notice detonation, then drive it easily until there is ½ tank left and fill it with premium.
I live in Chicago area (RFG-required!) and gas prices just shot over $2 for premium and is abt $1.80 for regular. I haven't tried regular so far, but I tried filling in with full tank of medium and I could clearly hear the detonation - the car was no longer calm .. the knocking was very audible. Then I filled premium half tank and it was relatively calm, but with full tank of premium it's quite calm and I can feel good performance.
I thought that the lower grades might warrant us to replace knock and other sensors that cost abt $400 to replace if we try to save $100 over a year - it's just $2 more per tank for premium over medium. My 2 cents. But I was wondering if anyone here mixes grades and use it without increase in knocking.

There is actually no mid-grade octane gas. Gas stations get the mid-grade gas by mixing the lowest and the highest octane together before it comes out of the pump.
