Any thoughts on trying to Build LED Turn Signal Mirrors?

I have been thinking about trying to build LED Turn Signal Mirrors for my car. Has anyone else thought about or actually tried this? It sems like it would not be to hard to do. I mean you measure the LED's, drill the holes in the front part of the mirror, glue the LED's in the holes, run the wires, and your done....Right?

Anyway, I just wanted to throw this out there and see your thoughts. Can this work? It seems almost too easy.......

Well they already have mirror covers w/led's and they aren't too expensive (150 or so) .. the only big problem with doing them is having to take apart the mirror and door to wire it. They used to sell them on custommaxima.com but I don't see it anymore. Maybe ebay.

I know someone else has done this before, I just dont remember who. They seemed to have problems with keeping them in a straight line. If you try this, maybe you could tape off a line to keep the LEDs aligned. I think you would also have to use resistors, but I am not an electrician.

Good luck if you try this, and post some pix.

I want to see some GOOD pix of the fitment. I like the covers, but have no idea what they look like from the mirror side.

Anyone have any pix like that?

Does anyone know what kind of Turn signal mirrors SY has? I see his pictures online, but I can't see a lense or LED's or anything on the back of the mirror (the part faxing the front of the car) Are they the ones where you see the LED's in the mirror?

Do they make turn signal mirrors where the LED's are on the back side of the mirror (the part facing the front of the car) for the I30's?

I know SY has the Mirrors with the LED on the outside, but I ain't too sure about the LED Signal on the mirror itself. However, that shouldn't be a worry to you because they have Universal kits where you can make your own arrow on the Mirror like you see on the 2003-2004 Denalis and so forth. I would just worry about a nice clean Turn Signal Mirror with the LED on the outside shell(standing at the front of the car, looking towards the trunk.) I know he had Chrome and Black ones. What he has now I don't know. You're gonna have to e-mail him and ask, unless he posts here personally.

My concern is if the LED in the mirrors that SY sells can be changed to White or Blue, or do they come White to begin with? I definately don't want nice Cefiros with 7500 HID and White Turn Signal Bulbs and then have an Amber/Yellow LED coming from my Side Mirrors. That would just look plain stupid and not to mention, ugly.

I have turn signal mirrors on my car... got mine from paradox... The fitment is great, most people dont realize its just an outer shell... Mine blink amber, but thats alright with me because they are suppose to blink amber... if they blink white nobody would be able to see them.

If you would smoke the white cover over the leds it would look even better on a dark car like yours.

Nice rimms anyway!

Pizatt. Those are the ones that I want. The ones with the turn signal lense on the FRONT of the mirror or the part facing the front of the car. I didn't see them on the Paradox site. Do they still have those? And how much were they.

Thanks!!!

I dont know if they still have them or not. You will have to contact maxmojo, or just send a email to paradox. They were $180 when I got them, and a guy charged me $100 to paint them. I ran the wiring with the help of a friend. basically one of the easiest installs I have done!

seeing as we have sum LED junkies, i can deal sum LED info. making leds go in a perfect stright line can be a challenging thing. the bit is always off alil so the hole is off alil, leds are hard to work with sum times dont bend em too much. I put 10 red leds in my center vents 5 in each, it looks nicefrom what i can tell, and im putting leds in other places also. for really good leds check out www.oznium.com

why did you melt it to the mirror??? You could have just used the 3m tape that came with it. It looks great, but wow, what a lot of work!

PS. What happened to your paint job! DAMN man.
