Yes, it is possible and has been done by many people here on the org. Look in the 4th gen Maxima sticky (how to do's, modifications??), the instructions and part list are in there. I plan on doing it this summer, and it can cost anywhere from $1000-$2000 if you install it yourself. If you have a shop do it look at $2000- $3000. The varition in cost is due to the quality of parts. It can be done relativley cheap if you go with all used parts. If you can put a clutch in a car you can do this mod!! The only hard part would be drilling a hole for the clutch master cylinder through the fire wall.

You just have to get the right bit. The fire wall is not as thick as one might think. I plan on doing my conversion in various stages. First, I will bypass the park/ neutral start switch, and then I will install the clutch master cylinder, clutch pedal and manual style brake pedal. I would still be able to drive the automatic in this condition, which would get me rolling on the project, and keep me commited to it . Also, I would have more time to collect quality parts, and my car will not be out of commision for such a long time!

But drilling through the fire wall and running the shifter rods will be the most difficult part of the conversion. I would still do it if I were you .
