Folding rear seat in 96 I30

has anyone ever converted their rear seat so that it can fold down like most car rear seats do? I have been thinking about this for a while and it seams like it would be pretty easy to do.

If anyone has tried or has done this or even thought about it, give me a hollar and let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Does the Maxima have one? If so you could take the back seat from a Maxima and put it into your I30?

My Maxima/US I30 came stock with a folding back seat

Hmmm. I am not sure if I could just swap out the maxima rear seat for mine or not. I will have to look into that.

thanks for your info. Wish mine came with a folding rear seat! It's hard to fit a few snowboards through that damn hole they gave me in my I30!!! lol

THe 4th gen does not and did not have the option of a folding seat in the US. The 5th gen did, but it is not compatible with the 4th gen seat frame.

A guy did it to his maxima, he ended up having to make the seat fold up not down. so it is possible, but it doesn't make the best set up

Hmmm. Well, it sounds like the only way for me to do this and have it be "normal" would be for me to follow Matt_NZ's idea. That sounds like a very expensive thing to do though and I am not sure if I have or want to spend that kind of money for this mod.

I certainly do not want to have my seat flip upwards. I will keep thinking and if I come up with an idea, I will bounce it off you guys and we can see if there is another way to do this that has not been tried yet.

Thanks again for the help everyone.

Can you take some pics of how your rear seat looks, particularly the hinge area?

LOL, thanks for the pic! Yes, that is what I would want, but how HOW!!!!!!!!

Thaw your hand? Is it cold there. What is the temp there today? Just curious.

Maybe I can send you some heating pads and gloves and you can send me the back seat of your car!!! Sounds like a fair trade. LOL

Thanks again

Yeah, it's winter here, was like -2C outside when I took the pic at around 1am!

Here are some pics of the seat up, the two hinges holding each seat, where the seat seperates and a view from the boot

Side hinge (door side)

As you can see, a part of the seat doesn't fold down.

DAMN YOU DAMN YOU TO HELL!!! Just kidding, but you do suck for having a folding rear seat. Only because I DO NOT HAVE ONE!!!!!!!!!

Sweet man, I wish I had one, but I am starting to lose hope for ever obtaining that which you possess and the tears flow down my cheeks like a river overflowing from a hard summer rain.

(shakes his head and opens his eyes) Whoah, what happened, I blacked out for a minute there...

Sweet ride man! Thanks for the pics.

Well, you could always cut up your back seat into sections like my stock one has and then add hinges. Could get messy though...
