Extracting extra HP from the 3.5

Ok Infiniti/Nissan has the same engine in like 8 cars. I had a G35 yesterday and the power feels identical to the I35 (Though it has much better gearing) I know there is a way to pull 280 from my I35. Chip or reprogramming or what? Sorry if this is in the stickies guys, I've been gone a while.

Everybody with a 3.5 is trying to figure this one out. I think it mainly has to do with the intake manifold and exhaust differences.

Unfortunately none of these things can just be bolted on due to our front drive platform.

You had a Sedan, right? Sedan is only rated at 260 and while it is faster than our cars, I'm postive that it doesn't seem to have the low end grunt like ours do. That probably has to do with different gearing (4 speed vs. 5 speed auto) and the ultra-invasive VDC system on the G35, even more invasive than the VDC on mine.

Something you may want to do, however, if it hasn't been done already and if you can feel it, is get the "Lack of power" or "hesitation" TSB performed. Basically, the drive-by-wire in these cars can make the car seem to hesitate on acceleration or have a "lack of power." The TSB calls for an ECU flash with updated programming and replacement of the MAF sensor. If you think you're experiencing that - take it into Harper. I believe I had it done there, and Jeff has always taken care of me real well.
