Smoking brakes... have I damages something? :(

Hi,

yesterdag I had to fly to the docter with my little sister, she was screaming from pain in her stommache so I dropped her in the max as fast as I could, start the engine, and took off, in my pannic I must have somehow forgot to check the e-brake, it wasn't fully down, but with all the stress I completely missed it... when I arrived at the doctor (pretty damn fast!) I got out of the car and noticed a not so sweet smell, and smoke comming of of the rear brakes ooops!

No time to worry bout that at the time I took my sis to the docter and they helped her, called my parrents if they could come to pick me up cuz I'm not sure if it is safe to drive the max now this has happened, the whole trip was slightly more then 1 km, but I don't know what impact it had on my rear discs...

Will it be safe to drive the max home now? Is it just that the brake pads hve worn a big deal because of this, or do I have to be troubled for my brakediscs?

Please enlighten me, I miss my car, but it would suck if I need new brakes, don't have that kind of money right now

You'll probably be alright...you've just probably accelerated the wear on the brakes a whole h3ll of a lot now. You could have warped the rotors, the pads have probably worn considerably. Go for a short drive and see what your car tells you. You'll probably need new pads...possibly new or resurfaced rotors.

Yeah your probablly ok, I doubt that much damamge has happened to your car... Should be still safe to drive... You will just have to change your pads and brakes sooner!
