Will this fit in a 96 I30?

Hey everyone,

I just purchased a 00-03 INFINITI I30/I35 REAR VIEW MIRROR with auto dim and digital compass. Will I be able to replace my 1996 I30 rear view mirror with this one and have it work properly (Compass and auto dim)?

Thanks for the help.

Don't know...do you have pics of the connections? If so, I will definitely go look for one- I need compass for DC/Metro driving.

1996 I30 was not prewired for the autodimming mirror....you have to wire it yourself...Ive had mine for like 6 months and its still not wired in....I have a wiring diagram somewhere....

Green/blue is ignition
Red/yellow is illumination
red/blue is constant power (from batter or something on all the time
Black would be the ground

I havent tried it yet as I dont know where to connect the wires to the ignition or for illumination.....power and ground are obvious. If you figure it out let me know! Oh and I have a stock 1998 autodimming mirror, so your might be a little different. Mine doesnt have a compass for 1 thing.

I want a 1998 auto-dimming mirror if I could find one for not to much cash, just to have yet another option on my car. The compas doesn't interest me, I have one in my Becker Traffic Pro headunit

The Illumination and ignition wires you could take from the head units wiring harness, it should have those wires, you could easily split em in two pairs so you could hook em up to as well the head unit as to the mirror. Good Luck

Me too. I got a 96 and I ain't touch the mirror yet and it already has Auto-Dim built in. I do however, have a Temperature/Compass Mirror in my possession along with a Temperature Probe I just need to find the time to do the mod. Also, I know it's been talked about before, but since I'm going to be doingthis soon, how can the mirror be tightened so it does wobble and move its position ALL the friggin TIME?

96 I30's had the mirror as an option, but the I30's that did not come with the mirror from the factory was not prewired for it....

My 96 I30 has the auto dimming mirror already in it as well but it does not have a compas.

SO, if I already have an auto dimming mirror in my car now, can I just plug and play this new mirror???

PLEASE SAY YES!!

phenryiv1: I don't have a pic of the connection, just the mirror itself. When I get it in the mail, I will take a pic of it and show you ok? Thanks for your help.

Thanks.

If I CAN install this auto dimming/compass mirror in my car, I may sell my auto dimming mirror if anyone wants to buy it from me. Just let me know. Thanks.

We cannot answer that until we see the connections. Get us pics when it arrives and we can be of more assistance.

Cool. Will do. Hopefully it should arrive in the mail this week. Once it does, I will take pictures and get them to you.

Speaking of posting pictures in a thread, how do you do that? I could never figure it out and would like to be able to. Thanks for all your help.

Didn't the 98-99s have outside temp/ compass display too? If so was it in the mirrior like most cars? Would it fit into a 97 w/ auto dim?

I would think that there was a temp probe that would have to be wired up. I think that most of the electronics (for the compass and temp gauge) are internal, so if you have a 12v+, a 12v-, and a dimmer (switched) lead, you woudl be fine with all but the temp probe. If the connectors are the same, that SHOULD be all that you have to wire up. If the connectors are different you might need to do some splicing.

I got the mirror today! It took forever, but it finally got to me. I took some pictures of the front and back so you can tell me if the plug looks like it will be a plug and play mod or not. I don't know how to post pictures in here so i need to email them to you if you want to see them. Just email me at drmonkey1313@***.net and I will get back to you with pictures.

Thanks everyone Hope this fits!!!!
