weak hp gain?
weak hp gain?
okay...on saturday(since the forum was down) i went to maxima racing...and i read the mods section...they kept on saying that the CAI would only add 1-2 horsepower and that HAI would harm the engine?tell me thats not true!! i was planning on buying the mods soon...but not when its only for sound...
no, it's not a big power mod. It will give you a few extra ponies but it's nothing to brag about. What do you mean by "hurt" the engine. It doesn't cause damage if that is what you mean.

GET THE CONE.... it will not hurt engine performance. The stock set up would be like trying to breathe through a straw. Plus, the new growl from the engine will be quite pleasing.

So what did your last dyno look like? Have any pics of the graph or at least peak tq and hp #"s.
Thanks

This seems to make sense to me as during daily driving the does not feel that much quicker, up to 3000 rpm. But for impromptu races, and track runs, you really feel the difference from stock. If a tq brake to about 2000-2500 rpm, I get some good tire squeel of the line and with disconnecting the VB, I get it into 2nd as well.
Maybe I can have Kinkos scan these on to a disk and then I can create a link on my sig for people to look at.
What did your dyno run look like? I read that you said it was disappointing....

The tq was was like the hp in regards to the original curve. The last run vs the stock run was about the same (maybe only 7 ft/lbs higher) up to about 3200 rmps after that, last run pulls drastically from the stock and reaches a max of 189 @ about 4600 rpm.

So your at 184hp and 189tq if I read your post correctly? Man if you did a 5spd swap you would be putting down some good #'s. I would like to do some pulls on your dyno.
I had problems with power drop off after 6K rpms which shouldn't happen with my MEVI...I was loosing 25whp from 6K to 7200 where as I should be loosing about 4-5 hp. My MEVI wasn't operating correctly either.
I fixed the MEVI activatioin problem and think I found the power loss problem as well. There is a long 4 page thread about it in the general forum. Read the last 6 or 7 posts to find the conclusion. I did end up getting some decent #'s and a correct looking power curve.

My guess is that if I SC first, I will put down maybe 255whp and 225wtq. However, if I drop in a manual I will maybe only put out 200whp and 205wtq

You want to buy my PF TB? It is for sale.

I am interested in your TB. Is the 70 mm TB mod that you have done also the pathfinder TB. Does it come with the adaptor plate? Did you get any gains from it, or more specifically, did you recieve any better throttle response? How much are you asking?

My throttle body is the 70mm Pathfinder one. Stock is 60mm. I am selling it with the adapter plate, gasket, hardware...everything you need. I did not do a dyno comparison so I cannot claim X amount of power but I think it helped my top end. Throttle response got a little bit better, but nothing that hurts driveability. I honestly thought it was going to make the throttle too touchy but it feels almost like stock. This mod does not change the driveability of the car at all. I am asking $275, which I am firm on. this is for a 01 throttle body, custom adapter plate that allows you to keep your cruise control (there was another adapter plate that was made that did not allow cruise control to work), all the bolts, the adapter to bypass the coolant lines, the metal pathfinder TB gasket, and custom gakset for the adapter plate.

Also, I read in the 4th gen stickies that because the new TB is larger in diameter, you must remove the intake manifold and "shave down" the first several inches down the manifold walls inorder to make the TB fit up against it flush. Would I still have to do this or does the custom adaptor plate compensate for the difference in diameters?
