Speedo question

Why would the lights and the numbers (meilage) be working on a Speedo, but not the needle? The only thing on the speedo that does NOT work is the needle. It won't move when you are driving. It just stays at 0!

It is not catching on anything
all the screws in the back are screwed in tight
all three wire bundles are plugged into the back of the cluster
All other guages and needles work

What is going on. Please help I am getting so frustrated!

Thanks

Did you push the needle back on the pin too far down? I know in the past when I've taken apart gauge clusters (only on domestics, however) that if you push the needle down too far it rubs and won't move.

I tried to swap my gauges with SE ones EXCEPT speedo a few weeks back. I realized then that fuel gauge doesn't need any calibration at all but I didn't know the speedo is so difficult because I never tried. Did you put the original speedo that came with your I30 but with SE faceplate by taking the needle out and putting it back in?

If you would like to try a speedo taken from another SE, I can send you one, becase it sounds to me like this is mechanical, not electrical. The problem I've been trying to fix was solved without swapping gauges and I no longer need one anyway....

I basicall just swapped the 97 Maxima cluster in for my 96 I30 cluster. I didn't take out any needles or anything.

hasei: If you would send me that speedo, i would love to try it! The only other option I am thinking of is taking out the needle on the 97 max speedo and putting it in my original I30 speedo with the face plate as well. I really don't want to do that!

hasei, please email me if you want to send that to me. I really appreciate the offer. Thanks buddy.
