Well it is official my car is no longer a dog....

I drove around with the I30 for 9mths with a ghost code and did not know it. KS was bad and now the I30 feels just as peppy as my previous Maximas did. When I first drove the car it was stock (and I thought 100lbs heavier than the Maxima) WRONG!! so that is why I thought it was slower.

Even with the Y/and intake I was probably slower than a stock 4th Gen 5speed (with bad KS) This is the first time in 10 months it has been a joy to drive this car. Mileage has increased. I just might keep the car...... to be honest with you guys she was on the chopping block.......

I knew it was time when I got walked by an Acura Legend it was stock and an auto.. I have owned a couple of Legends and they are great cars but I was suppose to walk him off the line and we were neck and neck until the top of 2nd then he just walked away.....

Same thing happened to me. At first the car was quite peppy, but then after about one year it felt slugish. I thought it was all in my head until I decided to check for ghost codes, and got the bad KS. After replacing it, I got my power and gas milage back.

Can we check for ghost codes at Autozone ?!? (shouldn't ask for but did someone say autozone does small things like renting tools, check codes etc for free ?!?)

Screw that! All you need to do is read the ECU 4th gen FAQ, pop a panel, and use a flat head scewdriver to retrive the codes.

You have a 98, and if you have more than 50K, I bet you have a bad KS!

I think a ghost code is just like a cel but doesnt trigger the actual cel light.

You might be lucky and not get any code except for the "everything is normal" 0505 code. Keep your fingers crossed!

You are lucky to have the KS still working properly, and the 0505 is awlways a good thing.

Good work!

Uh.............sure soon as I get a VI and JWT/ECU. Actually I was surprised to see you got the exhaust, I remember you said that was a on an I30, but I guess installing the headers left you no choice. Despite your dyno I am sure she pulls real hard.
