I just bought a 2001 Infiniti I30. I want to change the regular headlights to Xenon's. I was just wondering if anyone knows where I can find the factory Xenon kits that automatically come installed with the I30, and how much it would run for both lights?

ebay, dealer or try some wreck yards but i dout they would have it since the I30's only came with HIDS in the touring models.

Oh, I didnt know that the touring was the only model that offered the Xenon lighting. Do you think the Ebay lights are cheap? Will the color look similiar? Has anyone ever seen how the ebay Xenon Kits look?

He's saying that you need the I30t headlights themselves off of ebay. Not a "kit." Any I35 headlights would work too.

ahh.. why not jsut put the XENON kit into the headlight as opposed to changing the whole headlight..? and use a shield under hte bulb... for the sharp cutoff line..? this way u dont have to change the headlight.. and xenon kits are fairly cheap.. on ebay..

as for the color... i depends on the intensity.. ahh like 4300k i think is factory.. the philips kit i have looks very factory... also stick to names like philips.. cause the aftermarket kits look too blue.. or purple sometimes.....

ahh i know a seller who can give good deals on hids.. so email. me.. if ur interested.. nibina@mac.com

Retrofit kits are bad news. They use re-based bulbs that even with a "shield" are going to produce excessive glare and a poor beam pattern inside of a halogen housing.

Sure, anyone can stick a "XENON kit" into a headlamp...but I personally think it's very irresponsible. You're flying in the face of the law for one, and most importantly, risking undue harm to other drivers.

Oh...and there is no such thing as a Philips kit. Philips doesn't authorize retrofit kits as they are illegal in the US. Many kits (all of which are aftermarket) use Philips components - but even those bulbs have been altered.

The best way to retrofit HID is to use an OEM housing, or transplant OEM HID projectors from another vehicle.

philips kit meaning off another car... the xneon "set" rather.... mine is from a bmw... the "set" not kit.. i have to stop using KIT.. srry.. well and a proper beam pattern can be setup with proper install... its been done.. however ur rite about the fact that OEMs are the best choice.. however if you want to and can afford to spend time on it.. then you can perfect it..... im not saying fo stick a xenon into ur stock houseing .. turn that sucker on.. adn ur set... cause you can easily end up placing the bulb into the highbeam pattern in the headlight reflector... but you dont always have to go out and buy OEM parts.. you can always modify... and get good result..

P.S .. meta orbit.. what happened to the pic of ur car..?in teh post..

Proper beam pattern in a reflector housing is hard, but not impossible. I've seen some retrofits using E-code reflector housings that worked...but the way the DOT beam pattern is set up makes using HID capsules in it next to impossible to get right. DOT utilizes too much stray upward lighting to illuminate roadsigns, which that stray lighting in a halogen housing is amplified 30x using a much more intense HID light source.

As for the pic of my car, do you mean sig? It only appears once in a thread I believe..

I too have a 2001 I30, and want to do a HID conversion without spending a fortune. It seems the best way is going to find an I30t that is being parted out, and making a decent offer on those. Expect to pay at least 500.00 though. When I parted out my 1999 Millenia (which did NOT have HID lights), I received 270.00 for both headlights. Anyways, this is a thread that I started, it might be helpful to you :

meta is right I35 headlights fit thats what i have. however the T headlights might be cheaper since they are older. the I35 headlights are probably more expesive since they are newer and the bulbs have alot more life.
