The dimmer will work as long as you have SOME lights on, not necessarily the headlights, but if you jhust have the parking lights on, the dimmer will work. Just a quick note, I do not believe you will be able to dim your indiglo guages.

As for where to connect the 2 wires from your glow guages, run the powers (red) wire to the dimmer switch (because it's easy to do and it's right there close to your guages) and run the ground (black) wire to any screw that touches bare metal on your car. BadaBing, you're done! Enjoy!

Interesting: I purchased my indiglo guages from the same place a few years ago and hooked them to the dimmer switch. I never had a problem with mine. hmmm

If you are worried about it, then just tap into yourpower wire to the stereo. Any power wire on the car will work I believe.

I honestly don't see why tapping into the dimmer switch will harm them. Maybe if you use your dimmer to dim the other lights in the car a lot, but I doubt it.

Your call. Good luck with it!

I hooked my indiglow gauges to the dimmer as well for over 4 months and there has been no problems. I DID get the dimmer to work on the indiglow gauges, but I barely used it bc the gauges have their own dimmer.

These gauges use minimun power since they are leds and the only thing that can burn is the fuse.

I would say hook it to the dimmer and enjoy.

The dimmer has two wires. I can not remember if they are red and black or not, but I think they may be. if so, you want to tap into the red one (power) Do not touch the other one. The other black wire coming from your glow guages is a ground wire, just hook that to any screw on the frame of your car that is touching bare metal and you are all seet to go!

By the way, I just recently took out my glow guages to do a LED mod on my guages, but I had the glow guages in for well over 2 years and never once had a problem with them hooked to the dimmer, so I think you will be fine

okay...i tapped into the red wire...but now its robbing the rest of the interior lights of their power...when the the dimmer is on the on position the gauges turn off...when the switch is one then the indiglow gauge is brightest...

LOL yeah, I was gonna say, something is very wrong there because your glow guages take up almost no power at all, so for them to be robbing anything of power is almost impossible.

Glad you figured it out though. So everything is working and good now? Let us know and if you can show us some pics.

Congrats!!!
